On any level of thinking a no brainer if we want to try and make the playoffs. Maybe Bynum cant give 40 minutes anymore--but he can still play at a high level especially with a Carmelo on his team. Anytime Chandler Martin or Amare get hurt and it happens weekly were short--this is a no brainer.

Hes 26 and has 2 championships as a starting C 7-1 280 Phil Jackson praises him--no brianer.

Bynum is better than Chandler right now. Bynum just two years ago at 24 avg 19-12-2-2 stats Chandler never dreamed of--even this year he was quite good in man y games.

Yeah the last time he played a whole season 1.3 years ago he avg 19-12 for the season
Heck he had 20-13 DEc 6th against Atlanta this year in 24 minutes

I think Bynum has made it clear that he has his rings, his loot, and torpedoing any team that signs him is all he lives for now as a pro. Even the great Phil Jackson couldn't keep him in check in the end. Would love to be proven wrong but I doubt that will happen.

I could see the Spurs taking a chance on him because of the way they went out last season, and could probably handle Bynum better than any other team. They cut bait when Stephen Jackson made trouble and were no worse for wear, the Knicks aren't equipped to handle any more drama and Bynum is drama with a capital D. We are starting to show signs of life, in no rush to put that at risk.

What has Bynum shown mentally that he wants to play big time basketball again.

Dude didn't want to play in Philly, He allegedly banged an asst coach's girl in Cleveland.

In New York, what do you think he would do ? He doesn't like to play basketball, Kareem said if he went to work he could be great , but he has to want to do it mentally".

Interesting take. I agree that D'Antoni wouldn't want him both because of the style of play Mike likes and because of his attitude issues.

Can't remember seeing Oden on the floor this season, guess they are saving him for the playoffs.

Yeah, bu that style of play usually doesn't carry through in the playoffs. It wouldn't hurt for them to have an extra body to pound Hibbert with.

Do the Knicks even have a shot at Bynum?

My guess is he chases another ring in Miami.

If a player wanted to win a ring - I could see why (Beno Udrih) would come to the Knicks over the summer. But see where we are today (12-22), we're not the likeliest team to win it all. (I still think we're going to go on a run and finish over .500, and confuse a few teams in the playoffs)

If we could add 15-25 quality Bynum minutes (the way Jermaine O'Neal was giving quality limited minutes when he's played over the past 2 seasons), he'd certainly give us a boost.

He's been hurt so long that I don't know if he has it in him to return to being the player he was just 2 years ago. At the time, he was easily the #2 center in the NBA, and probably the best post-up center in the league that year. Better moves than Howard (oh wait, Howard doesn't have any moves).
