The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to trade Andrew Bynum and a draft pick to the Chicago Bulls for forward Luol Deng, sources told ESPN.com.

The deal is expected to be completed on Tuesday morning when the teams have a conference call with the league office.

Bynum is expected to be released by 5 p.m. on Tuesday before the second half of his $12.3 million contract becomes guaranteed.

The deal will save the Bulls more than $15 million in salary and luxury taxes, taking them below the salary-cap threshold. In addition, the Cavs will send the Bulls a first round pick owed to them by the Sacramento Kings that is top 10 protected in the next two drafts.

The Cavs had discussions for more than a week with the Los Angeles Lakers involving a deal for Pau Gasol but could not come to an agreement. The Cavs also had talks about trading Bynum's contract to the Utah Jazz for Richard Jefferson.

Great deal for Bulls. They can then amnesty Boozer and save another 17 mill.

Is this a joke?! The pick is top 14 protected! Cavs get a player like Deng, meanwhile we trade unprotected picks for players like Bargs. And then don't bother getting any protection at all in the Melo trade! Grrrrrrrrrr

If the kings sucks in both years what does Chi actually get from the deal? A few second rounders.

It's top 10 protected, not 14.

Dolan /Isiah is not well liked among owners and GM's in the league, that hasn't changed.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Wow man this is the difference between great franchises and the Knicks. The Builds set themselves up for a retooling this summer. The cavaliers added another piece to their puzzle. They aren't going to beg LeBron to sign with them. They are assembling their own team that now looks very very good with Deng.

The knicks live on hope and a prayer. No plan whatsoever

Cleveland got Deng on a rental , he bounces after this season . Bynum will probably go to Miami and grow up like Beasley after Chi-town waives him before 5pm today and save 15 Mill....as the world turns. Or he goes out to the LA Clippers.

They can still use Deng as S&T. I liked what both teams did.

Have the Knicks ever executed a trade that makes sense. A trade where they are not getting hosed?

Every GM knows to deal with Dolan if they want a quick fix

I think after enduring the dantoni years with all the trades we made to get under the cap, only to be in the sane situation has got to be the worst thing we every had to deal with as fans. We had David Lee, zach and jamal Crawford and we turned that to ****. Watching other teams make smart moves and capitalize on opportunities makes me sick.

With all that said we are always one or two moves away from becoming a really good basketball Club. We don't have the right leadership to get us there.

That is being done on purpose if you and I can figure it out, nobody is this dumb.

What is the motive? Always a conspiracy but never a motive.

What Dolan does is play a game of chess one move at a time. Others play with an end result in mind. Chess is a game of patience and forethought. Dolan is a man of instant gratification.

Im surprised Bulls bailed on Deng but they can resign him this summer. They get an asset and I'll assume they have their own pick so they are tanking this season. Its a good move that is forward thinking.

Knicks to me are in a state of flux and not sure where to go. Logic dictates move on from melo but that would make dolan look foolish. Knicks went all in.

truth was Isiah did collect some talent players that DID NOT MIX

Nate
Crawford
Wilson Chandler
ZBO
David Lee

Curry was a horrible move and a very costly one
are all very good players but NOT TOGETHER and NOT without a TRUE PG and C (Curry couldn't rebound or defend and neither could ZBO or Lee at the C position for long stretches)
Crawford was our #1 or #2 player but is a 6th man type player that needs a TRUE PG

outside of Curry, overpaying for Jared Jeffries and FAT BOY JAMES and FATSPOON *TO REPLICATE LJ*
while grabbing Marbury first

I still remember James after being off the roster because of an injury (or weight issues), pissing off the fan base, comes back and puts on a show for a few minutes then signals to the bench that he's tired and wants to come out. One good playoff performance in Seattle and he parlays it into lotto money. Talk about peaking at the right time.

I honestly thought James could become a serviceable Center after watching him perform during that playoffs series
I thought we overpayed in years but thought it should have been a 2 year with 3rd year team option with 3 years AT BEST guaranteed, while 5m per year without raises should have been good enough, 3 years with team option for 3rd and 4th while 3rd is partial guaranteed should have been given with James track record

Obviously I was DEAD wrong but atleast I admit my mistakes and opinions

But if such deal was given, instead of the full 5 years, James MIGHT NOT have become lazy and WORK for his next contract, and stay in NBA shape
A reason why SHORT term deals works out better than LONG term deals, in general....

I thought he could help as well and was also struck by the terms of the deal. I didn't believe James would retire for all intensive purposes after getting paid. Didn't even try to hide it.

Even Isiah knew what right mix of players could mesh to win a championship when he played in Detroit.

So for him to come to NY and try to mesh the wrong pieces baffles my mind. They had role players and two-way players so why would he have tried to duplicate that today if he was really trying to put together a winner ?

Maybe I was wrong and maybe they could be a threat to sign Melo outright. TRADE HIM IMMEDIATELY!

If Deng turned down a 3yr-$30 million deal with the Bulls, I think it is highly unlikely he walks away from the Cavs who now own his Bird Rights. He's going to be looking to get paid and knowing the Cavs, grossly overpaid.
