The NY Knicks have the highest payroll in the NBA by 39%

They have used a method of acquiring players by selling draft picks or young players since that time starting in 2002 when we traded pick # 7 for Antonio Mcdyess

In those 12.5 years our record is the following

W-390 L-578
Playoff appearances 4 series wins 1 playoff record 7-19

Total record 397-597 winning % .398

Its safe to assume the way the Knicks conduct basketball business is LAST in the NBA or ANY other sport--by far going on 12.5 years. I don't have to here any opinion--the facts are on paper.

The basketball performance of the team is not considered as a business goal.
The goals are to have no operational loses and value of the franchise increasing.
This goals are reached almost every year so business has no issues.

That's depressing.

Would love to also know the number of players that have been on this team during that span compared to a team like the Spurs. I'm sure it'd look pretty ridiculous.

An announcer commented last week that we have burned through 80 players in a brief period.

I've heard that stat as well - and I am sure its high - but what is the typical NBA team like? SA with their core foundation - maybe less than others- but still, on a 15 man roster, teams do probably turn over a lot of players- though I doubt as many as we have.

when does Dolan wake up?

This stretch is just like when he was an addict. Denial.

When does Dolan own up to how he runs this franchise?

The problem is he seems to value executives on one basis alone: Yes. Are you a 'YES' Man?

He will never hear the truth because he has no one to tell him he has no clothes on, that his ownership has turned this franchise into a joke.

The Knicks have to sign guys to vet mini deals because of their cap situation. I am sure that increases the number of players that pass through quickly. They also have to use those guys in trades because they don't have any middle level contracts.

This franchise is so stupid! They should have hired Phil Jackson to be president of the Knicks last year. You would think they would have learned a thing or two from seeing what Riley is doing in Miami. Phil is the one you have at the helm in 2015 free agency, not no damn Steve Mills. Such a stupid franchise!

Arkrud, why aren't Knicks fans accepting this truth that you so eloquently explained here.

For that I give you a long distance ^5

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Saw arkrud's post and had to sign in and co-sign… especially since he just put up a farewell thread!

I'll say it again: the Knicks are to the Garden what the Rockettes are to Radio City. They coast on legacy and location… the tickets sell themselves.

Briggs,

Dolan just paid a boatload to McKinsey to figure it out. Im sure you'd have done it for some comp tickets!

Good ones of course!!!

I respect the stats. Yup, "the way the Knicks conduct basketball business is LAST in the NBA or ANY other sport". However, it's more than just the stats. It's the way the Knicks have continually turned away, indeed driven off, quality players and coaches that drives me crazy. I was watching LAC play GS the other night and thinking . . . the Knicks could have figured out a way to add Mark Jackson and Doc Rivers to their coaching staff years ago but noooooooo . . . and, hey, there's David Lee who made the All Star team his LAST season as a Knick . . . and the list goes on and on and on . . . success as a Knick has been punished, failure rewarded. That, of course, shows up in the stats but it's somehow worse knowing that the Knicks haven't been unlucky, they've been stupid.
