It's gotta be the new shoes. Old timers like Clyde Frazier and even Drexler mentions that back in the day they used low tops or as they call it tennis shoes to play basketball and they did not see this much injuries to the knees. Ankle sprains yes but not in the knee.

I would have went with the players are more athletic now. The trauma and forces their body go through has to be higher than in the past.

this....maybe...

dude's are so much stronger and quicker...so it does make you wonder if some who may possess those attributes, are more at risk to become injured

Yeah I always assumed athleticism but shoes aren't a bad argument either. This ish is like the plague. LeBron must be made of steel.

You'd see more ankle sprains with low tops because high tops support the ankle.

Players are more athletic and there's more trauma. That's true.

There was a Grantland Article about all the ACL injuries recently that out out the most interesting argument I've heard: the knee injuries are caused when people plant wrong a cut. It could actually mean that more time teaching kids and athletes the body mechanics of cutting and changing direction quickly more than they do.

Kyrie and these young guys can't play that's why. Westbrook is trying to dunk on the whole team every play. Rose is trying to win the Olympic decathlon every play. Kyrie wants to join the and1 circuit. None of these guys can play the pro game.

Guys like Isaiah Thomas in his Detroit days could do all the moves kyrie does. He could also jump out of the gym like rosé and Westbrook. Difference was isiah understood the game and paced himself to win not get on sports center. That's the difference.

Concentrate on Toure...I think our guy is going to be putting up similar numbers very soon. We need to play the kid

I agree I have become tired of outsiders it's time to build around what we have and make them into players to go forward with. Keep draft picks get players detrimental to youth movement like JR Smith off the team. If Melo wants a vet team then let him go find his vet team he wants to be on and trade him there for picks and young players.

your assessment comes directly out of the fact that the rules concerning palming and traveling have been drastically loosened over the years, and at the same time the hand check has been abolished.

these players would not be able to make the cuts they do if they were not allowed to palm the ball as they change direction or do these crossovers that all require palming. he so-called explosiveness we see today is aided by the fact that players are allowed an extra step or two as they take off.

it's a convenient myth that the players are more athletic. the training methods may be more sophisticated and the players may be bigger.

the nba is at a low point. too many teams, diluted talent pool, lowest skill level i have ever seen.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

GREAT points.. today we see guys like kenyon martin getting or used to get these massive deals and they bring very little skill to the table... the rules and the changes to the game have made less skilled guys more relevant....
