Yeah but the damage is super done. We quit the cigarettes AFTER we get the heart attack. That bad blood was well inflicted in the team.

I do feel a bit bad for him- he was just pursuing his dream, and his brother tried to help him out. Anyone with a sibling can empathize with that. The fault lies with Dolan for allowing it- I don't think it was Chris Smith who deserved all the flack. If I'm being honest, I have had a job in the past because of who I knew.

Still he made a lot of money from it and got to pretend he was an nab player for a few months.

I'm glad we can now use his roster spot, though!

Next: please get rid of Beno!

next lets see if mills can find a taker for carmelo anthony.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Yes!!! Get Tyler in there he needs a chance. Trade shump and ray ray for a point guard that can play like Tomas in sac town or someone like that. A younger version of Pablo would be great!

Knicks to waive Chris Smith

Updated: December 30, 2013, 4:12 PM ET

By Ian Begley | Special to ESPNNewYork.com

NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks have decided to waive Chris Smith, according to sources close to the situation.

Sources told ESPNNewYork.com that the Knicks were in the process of finalizing the move Monday to create a roster spot to sign big man Jeremy Tyler, who has been playing for the Erie Bayhawks, the Knicks' D-League affiliate, since going to training camp with New York.

The Knicks considered releasing center Cole Aldrich to make room for Tyler, sources said, but have decided to let go of Smith.

The Knicks' decision to keep Smith on the regular-season roster stirred emotion among the team's fan base because of his ties to brother and teammate J.R. Smith. Both the Knicks and Chris Smith have acknowledged that Smith's older brother was a factor in the team's decision to keep him.

Smith began the season with the BayHawks and was called up to the team on Dec. 17 after point guards Pablo Prigioni and Raymond Felton were lost to injury. He has appeared in two regular-season games, playing a minute late in each.

His salary of $490,814 is already guaranteed, according to league sources, so the Knicks would not be saving any money on the transaction.

The 26-year-old's inclusion on the roster spurred a negative reaction from at least one NBA player.

Detroit's Brandon Jennings engaged in a Twitter spat last month with J.R. Smith after questioning Chris Smith's NBA credentials. J.R. Smith was fined $25,000 for directing hostile and inappropriate language toward Jennings in a response tweet.

Some rival agents believe Chris Smith's roster spot with the Knicks was locked in as a package deal when J.R. Smith re-signed with the team in July.

The Knicks signed Tyler to a partially guaranteed contract in training camp. He suffered a broken foot before camp and was released before the regular season.

Tyler, 22, has played well in recent weeks for the BayHawks. He's averaged 19.8 points and 11.4 rebounds in his last five games.

JR is clueless!!!!

Maybe we can have "Ray Donovan" fix him. Packet of smack in dashboard and a busted tailight, suspicious weed smell justifies a search and "boom", Jr breach of his contract!

JR thinks they were done wrong? Team paid 1.5 in taxes to get his brother a half mil. If chris can play he'll land somewhere. Even China!!!
