They will never have enough because of our management allows it and doesn't know basketball.
1. Sign a player/trade that doesn't do multiple things well?
Amare, can't defend or rebound, used to be an elite offensive player, bid against themselves he wasn't getting 4 years. If someone was dumb enough to sign him, likely BK then so be it.
Tyson can't score the ball offensively can only score on dunks and open putbacks. One of the worst at his position. Solid but not elite defender that doesn't change the game plan.
Andrea, can't defend, rebound or shoot a high percentage, but is making fringe All Star cash. Combounded bad signings into a trade and cost us a pick.
2. Trade for a player with limited options in the current market mid season?
Anthony had one viable option and that was BK. Dolan panicked because he thought it was going to happen, but Melo would have been in a worse situation then he is in now in NY. Anthony remarked the other day that they had to give up everything to get me and it would take 3 years to rebuild????? And you allowed them to do it anyway? You were getting paid, you made the season about you, but you forced your way to a team to cripple their talent. (Felton, Chandler, Gallo, Melo, Amare) would have been a long and balanced team with the amnesty for Amare just in case.
3. Using the amnesty provision wisely?
Picked up a 9MM option only to amnesty a one year deal. Cap savings none, upgrade to team marginal. Playoff victories that season 1.
At the end of the day you hire bad management you get what the Knicks and Nets are. Billy King panics mid season turns a lottery pic into Gerald Wallace and then overpays him to stay. You don't wait the market out and you trade for Joe Johnson and give the Hawks the right to swap. Any other profession you are fired on the spot for decisions like that. Same thing we went through with Isiah.
Knicks have been making bad moves for a decade. OKC has guys that care, we do not. You think if a guy is drinking before games and getting blasted like JR the Spurs, Thunder would resign him and then give his ****ing brother a contract?
We don't have one guy that is really hungry on this team. Not one. Tyson pretends that he is, but if that was the case this guy would have learned how to play offense. It's that simple. They pretend to be hard, tough, but all I ever see is someone willing to outwork and out hustle.
