He is expected to be out until the All-Star Break, according to the report. Westbrook underwent surgery after tearing the lateral meniscus in his right knee April 27 and then underwent another procedure on Oct. 1 to remove a loose stitch from the first procedure. The team expected him to miss the first four to six weeks of the regular season, but Westbrook came back in early November. “Russell has been playing pain free, but recently had experienced increased swelling. After consultation and consideration by his surgeon in Los Angeles, a plan was established to monitor the swelling that included a series of scheduled MRIs,” said Thunder general manager Sam Presti. Westbrook is averaging 21.3 points, seven assists and six rebounds in 25 games this season for the Thunder, who are 1/2 game behind the Portland Trailblazers for the best record in the Western Conference. |
