Teams are getting to the free throw line 8 more times per game then we are.

We are not attacking the basket enough. Felton is best when he is constantly attacking the basket, JR Smith is better when attacking the basket... this year they have not been doing that... I think these last few wins with Prigioni (I only caught clips) I believe he was attacking the basket.

You attack the basket you get more people open shots which raises the shooting percentage (ours is also low compared to our opponents).

They don't have the physical ability nor the mentality. Every drive or pick and roll is a kick out for a three. Melo is really the only guy that gets to the basket but even he is a jumpshot first kinda guy.

I agree. They are not coached to take it to the basket. A real system coach would say to them, do what I ask or sit. Woody has no power over them so they do what they want.

Need players that know how to get to the basket and finish in traffic.....at any position. With Novak and Copeland types waiting for the defense to collapse. We have no one that knows how to get to the rim or get there consistently and no outside threat. But I think Bargs and Tim Jr can fill the Novak and Copeland role.....Jr Smith and melo are scorers not shooters. There's a difference.

The only solution is to admit 15 years of failure, change the GM to the guy who knows bbal and get read of all bureaucrats.
Then owner need to give this GM complete control for 3-5 years to reanimate the organization.
All the rest is window-dressing.

15 years lol.... Damn man. I smoked and drank that pain away 10 years ago.

We don't need a 3-5 year plan tho. We need a right now plan and a Melo plan for this off season...

These punk mofos have to go now so we can plan better seeds for the future. we can still win this year in the process. We gotta do something smart asap

When I saw the thread title, I was expecting a workable plot to fool Dolan into signing away ownership of the Knicks.

tj23 - exactly. Driving to the hoop is not such a good idea when your knees are brittle (JR), nor when it are only six feet tall (Felton)!with a limited repertoire.

It all looks easy from a distance.

Up close... not so much.

How does anyone, short of any improbable ownership abdication, turn this around and change the brand to a positive? Even with a new coach, or new players... it is a KNICKS problem and the running joke has a mental affect on everyone. Players play tight at home because they know the season tickets are expensive and fans are not happy campers

The employees are all always on notice. The press has ten minutes a day and is pissed.

opponents are shooting 52% from the field against our hard-working heroes...

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Haha. Ain't that the sad truth. Teams have also packed it in against the Knicks. It is basically impossible to get the basket. Shump's guy for example is playing sometimes like 10ft off. Then not even giving much of a challenge. Basically daring them to shoot. No space is gonna be available until people start making shots.

Smith had a run last year where he was taking the ball to the basket and he looked like he could be a max guy. He is coming back from injury but he is definitely able to play this way and was very effective doing it.
