When Melo takes 30+ shots constantly, our team mates know they likely won't get the ball back, therefore JR and others also takes bad shots, and it has a multiplying effect
I can't say he is just selfish, I think he needs a player that puts him in his place at times with his shot selection
We have enabled his poor shot selection and HERO like basketball for too long, something Woodson must fix if he is to stay our head coach
Melo lacks trusts in his team mates and is overconfident in himself, something Kidd changed in him last year

AB is not the same 3pt shooter as Copeland was for us but he is much more effective off the dribble and mid range game
On DEF he is an under rated HELP DEFENDER and 1v1 DEFENDER vs LEGIT C's, with good shot blocking ability
He clearly is best at C and is our number 2 at this point, with no fear in taking shots, and the ability to get his shot off and create havok at C, pulling our opponents C out to respect his shot, therefore losing a shot blocker and rebounder for better spacing
I think he shouldn't try to shoot many 3pters attempts, much like Dirk does not attempt many, although Dirk is clearly one of the best shooters in the game with the range/ability to do so
However, taking wide open ones and without time on shot clock is fine with me
Taking it enough, just so the DEF will go out to defend him, currently NO ONE is giving him that shot, despite not even shooting a high 3pt %
This enables the paint with room to post up, penetrate, and help with ball movement/spacing
He probably will likely never be a good REBOUNDER though, party because he is used to space the floor out, but his mid range/PnR, ability to finish off the dribble is very under rated as NixLuva has always pointed out
However, I don't see it working with a lineup of

Melo
AB
Chandler

Melo needs to establish himself a mid range go to move like he did in Denver with the mid post/turn around jumper *similar to Jordan's turn around fade away*, also with post ups, to get more high quality 50% shot's or greater
Most importantly, he needs to learn to use his energy in all area's so he doesn't lose his legs by the time the 4th quarter starts and still forcing shots
He needs to be able to motivate his team mates, as a leader, and improve their games, with his scoring ability and attacking the DEFENSE, not always just try to score
This is on WOodson, to hold him, along with JR, and EVERYONE "ACCOUNTABLE" something Woodson hasn't done since he took over after's Dantoni left, party because he was spoiled with the Kidd and the vet's he had last year...

Also, Iman is the only player that constantly tries to push the tempo after grabbing a DEF rebound so we don't play vs a SET DEFENSE
A lot of 3pters last year were there because of the pace that we pushed, leading to wide open 3pters especially for Melo, JR, Novak, and even Felton/Kidd/Pablo

Felton is a scoring combo guard, with the height of a PG but without the speed/quickness/ability to facilitate, but with the strength of a SG/SF
He also could take many poor shots with JR Smith and Melo, also with Tim Hardway JR and Iman....
I hope we are able to either trade for a PG like Sessions, Bayless, or Jarret Jack, if not using our 3m MLE to sign preferably Sessions if not Bayless as both Sessions/Bayless are UFA's that would easily be our best facilitating PG and penetrator with the ability to finish

Hopefully we can continue to build off this win, along with playing as a TEAM, with good ball movement, player movement, and some DECEPTION with less 1v1

Maybe this is the wake up call/game we needed. Sometimes beating on your rival by 30 points can propel a team, give them confidence.

Nah, we phucking suck still.

when you don't believe in yourself, you only lose more confidence in your abilities, our TEAM's abilities, and it affects/effects will show on both ENDS especially with EFFORT/Shot selection

That is the difference between contenders like Pacer's, OKC, Miami, Spurs, Bulls, etc....
Especially with Pacer's, these past couple of years they have grown and developed, their skills and confidence so much, they NEVER quit on their game despite being down 20+ and these teams have come back from behind many times
They believe in themselves and push their limits, having talent, a GOOD DEF, and a coach that knows how to get most out of each player and as a TEAM helps...

Look at Lin's run aka Linsanity, his team was completely garbage, with EVERYONE out *the "BIG 3" that made up 60m* of the contracts
but they played much better than the team they had with the "TALENT" all injured

think about it, how many times in the past 2-3 years we totally thought that we sucked and then hit a long win streak
Unfortunately, we hit the long win streak hit first, and we probably are not "LEGIT" contenders but we should not suck, not this much

Most of the reasons why we have struggled have been largely because of mental reasons, too much freedom to certain players, and poor DEF, making poor decisions/lack of adjustments
A lot of this is also Woodson's philosophies that do not work and him enabling Melo, along with JR, and not holding players "accountable" like he once did

Is allowing Melo to drop 30 points on about 30 attempts effective and efficient?
Who deserves the most credit or blame on that?

That's how I want JR to play for the next month- quietly, 20 mins, only really taking only open shots until his knee is better.

I'd still rather see more minutes from Shump and THJR. JR at 75% or whatever he is, while playing dummy ball, only hurts the Knicks and curtails Shump's trade value, if that's what the Knicks are thinking.

I learned that we had some internal issues with our SG's and Hardaway likes JR's on bennded knee wowsa act he performs it quite often now.

Prigioni tries to bring the calmness that Kidd brought to the team, but he doesn't have the league cred that Kidd had.

Woodson still doesn't have a clue on what rotations allows the opposing team to quickly find like to get back into the game and that annoys me to no end.

Good to see Murray play a little unbridled, but athletic with some good 1st step moves.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Here is the MOST IMPORTANT STAT from the game last night that needs to happen every game!!!
http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/playbyplay?gameId=400489150

Carmelo took only 3 shots in the first quarter! Normally, we start the game off with a Carmelo elbow jumper, nope not last night. In fact, Melo didn't take his first shot until 4:30 left in the first quarter!

This is how we need to play every game!
He took only 12 shots the entire game, if he plays like this every 1st quarter, it's going to give our team the confidence to win.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree
