(i also posted this question on my facebook page)

you know what would be interesting....to state your age and whether your for or against melo. I wonder if theres a correlation.

For example, im 32 & im tired of the melo act. I think hes an elite scorer and has rebounded well this yr. However hes lazy on defense (as shump rightfully pointed out), takes forced shots, & doesnt pass. But i can live with that - lets face it hes always been like this. The main reason im now anti-melo is cuz hes asking for elite money (25-30mill until age 35), which would bankrupt the knicks. There are already rumors that he wants to leave and im not sure hes worth all that money

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I was 27 when he came here and I was so against the deal that I was banned (if I'm really that guy that was banned but not saying I am)

Now I'm 29 and I hate the deal even more and think Melo sucks

I'm 25 and I still remain a supporter of Melo. He has his shortcomings but every player does; even stars. I did hate the idea of losing assets for him, just 7 months before he became a free agent though. I have no idea about how things went down behind the scene but if he truly demanded a trade to "get his", I would question his commitment to winning. If he demands top dollar again, I think that the Knicks should part ways with him because his real agenda would be clear.

I'm 22. Was a Melo supporter right up until a few weeks ago. I thought last season if he had a little more help on offense, we would've beat Indiana. This year it's clear, you just can't win with Melo as your best player.

Im prehistoric and no player except for guys like Jordan are untouchable. I would have traded Melo at any stop along the way if I honestly thought that it would make the team better. If Stat's knees hadn't disintegrated shortly after coming here we could have moved him to upgrade this roster and I doubt we're in this mess.

How can you reconcile that thinking? Last season, Melo could have headed a Conference Finals team but this year "you can't win with Melo as your best player"? How does that work?

I wholeheartedly agree with that strategy. I love the aesthetics of Melo's offensive game but would've moved him in a second if the right deal came along. Even so, I still believe that Melo's main problem is that he does not have a second star or a team that properly compliments him and each other.

Survery results are in! I asked knicks fans (from the different fb sites and online sites im on) whether or not they would resign Melo or not. I wasnt concerned with those results because thats been discussed. I wanted to know if there was any correlation to their ANSWER and their AGE.

- For MELO = avg age 27.4
- Against MELO = avg age 42.3

What does this mean or imply? are younger fans enamored by scoring? do older fans value defense more than scoring? have they witnessed true winning basketball? Are older folks more impatient because they want a ring NOW? what does all this mean - Im not sure; just intersting

i think it means that younger guys are what you say, enamored by the flashy pizzazz, they are more likely to still be with the herd thinking, they haven't developed full personalities yet, so they do not see past the scoring, they're not likely to think deeply about subjects, they don't have the life experience to know, just by looking at him, that melo is a clown,

and it's a combo of all these things

I was against the trade and never changed my opinion.
I like intelligent players with integrity and believe that the only watch-worthy bbal is team game with ball movement, defensive intensity, and offensive creativity and discipline. This what wins chips and make teams and players great.
Melo and the style of ball he and Knicks are playing now has nothing to do with all that.
Melo is a showman celebrity first and bbal player second. I like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga more.

Melo's won titles on every level but the NBA. I definitely think there is substance to his game but teammates matter and his teammates have sucked.
