I wonder if Ike Diogu, Chris Douglas-Roberts, or Josh Powell feel the same way....

Its called being patient. Sometimes the short term fixes are the long term problems.

None of those guys will turn it around.

at the very least lets see if both

Murry (DEFENSIVE STOPPER which we have had problems with at the PG position)
I really think Murry would be a great pairing combo with Iman Shumpert with their size and DEFENSIVE intensity, with his ability to handle the ball as well

and

Cole Alrich (legit backup C that rebounds, plays DEF, and can block some shots)

can they be the "SPARK" for us this year, like in the year Lin/Novak, Kidd/Wallace, JR/Copeland were sparks for us once???
Maybe, maybe not but Certainly not if they are glued to the bench....

CUT CHRIS SMITH, he got his money, but every spot on the roster makes a difference, we can actually use that room to develop a player instead at the very least
I am sure this makes many of his own TEAM MATES and others from around the league PUKE for all the hard work, players like Nate Robinson have done just to get a vet min uninsured contract last year, and making only 2m per year for 2 years

It is really demoralizing for him to be on the team, we can either use it on a LEGIT SF (which we have none off on our roster) or a player development especially in the PG/C department, which both are the most important and hardest positions to fill in the NBA, even a PF, PF/C ANYTHING OVER CHRIS SMITH makes sense, just not another SG

Problems on DEF
========================
Our problems on DEF, is that we have to many players that cannot defend their own positions, while constantly needing help, without the ability to rotate faster than the ball, especially with good ball movement with good shooters, penetration, and a solid post game
Out of 5 positions, we constantly have 3 positions that have trouble defending their own position, usually at PG, SF, C, sometimes PF, and SG *because SG has to cover other positions to help*
This is on Woody and his defensive schemes/philosophy, the ball will not move faster than our DEF especially when we lack speed to begin with
With all the help DEF we constantly need to give, we are unable to recover, and lose position for OFF boards, and have mismatches that kill our DEF

PG
======
Felton, Udrih, Pablo
Our PG cannot defend his own man (Felton cannot get through screens because he is big boned, Pablo is just too slow and cannot penetrate and finish as a threat)

SG
======
Iman, JR, Hardaway JR
Our SG has to help the PG, our SF, rotate, help with rebounds, and cover his own man yet he isn't doing enough (Iman, is just being asked to do too much)

SF
=======
SF, usually one of the 3 SG's above
which is part of our problem because it is a mismatch and requires help

SF/PF
==========

MWP/MELO both are quite slow and have trouble defending SHOOTERS, MWP has no lift and speed at all, and when his shot isn't falling he becomes a huge liability at his age
Melo is very strong but will always try to grab the rebound as he should now with Tyson out but many teams have deadly shooters in this department
However, they both have trouble defending shooters and stopping players that have the ability to penetrate which would require help, lead to a wide open shot, or needing help on the REB department

PF/C
===========

Kmart
AB
STAT

while none are legit C's, they all play best at C for us, none are even average rebounders
All need help playing C as they are not C's but also have to help the other positions

Kmart is the most undersized but has been the most consistent player on DEF
His passing, especially chemistry with Melo for alley hoops is quite under rated
However, last season, he was great in setting picks to free up the PG and making great cuts and sometimes FAKING the pick and rolling before he DEF could recover which he hasn't been doing this season much

AB deserves much more credit when he plays C than he is getting
Earlier, He had struggled when playing at PF, especially with Chandler, he plays his best at C and should remain at that position as he is a poor rebounder and does not have the speed advantage for help DEF at PF
Having AB with Chandler is like having 2 twin towers without the ability to block shots, rebound effectively, and has poor spacing, while still having the lack of speed, especially initiating a fast break or defending one, which DEFEATS the whole purpose of having 2 BIG's on the floor
AB isn't the 3pt shooter that Copeland was for us, but is much more skilled, Copeland's quick 3pt shot opened the floor for us and had a decent post game with timely cuts even though he lacked speed/mobility
Copeland was interesting because he usually shot a high % despite the limited minutes he got and was a big part of our last run last season to get us 54 wins at C where he excelled at Center

STAT needs minutes to get his mojo back, at least 20minutes a night and no back to backs, if he can't do that, let him get hurt again and think about retirement and/or seek a buyout so we pay less tax
He put in a lot of work instead of pulling a Eddy Curry and just not taking care of his body
He is in a sense our Grant Hill *like he was suppose to be the 2nd ALL STAR in Orlando with Tmac* for us
But despite all his injuries/surgeries, I must give this guy credit for fighting through all of it, and trying his best given his circumstances...
At the very least, we didn't actually trade for him *although we did in the end, but without giving any REAL ASSETS*
