LOS ANGELES – Knicks coach Mike Woodson angrily dispelled the notion Tuesday he doesn’t like Iman Shumpert, saying it’s “bulls—’’ in the wake of the combo guard’s terrible game in Portland.

Woodson has been highly critical of Shumpert since the preseason began. That the Knicks president Steve Mills had spoken to several teams about the Georgia Tech defensive guard fed into the belief Woodson is trying to run him out of down.

Shumpert played Monday as if all the trade talk has worn on him, going scoreless with no assists, no rebounds, one steal and two turnovers in the 102-91 defeat.

He was also a minus-22. Shumpert’s uninspired performance made it look as if he was quitting on the coach since his best asset is his tenaciousness.

Woody“ I’m going to play guys I like and think can help us win and who play hard. He’s one of those kids.

Cmon Woody this isn't true, and everybody on UK knows it. Why haven't Tourre Murray got real run yet when your guards are stimking up the court, isn't that how we discovered Jeremy Lin ?

I'm so sick of Woodson to be honest. He has absolutely no creativity and his obvious marginalization of certain players is farging infuriating. He obviously treats Shump like ish and he's lashing out because that's the reaction when you're trying to dispel something that is true. Get angry so it seems like your insulted at the assumption. If he really valued and liked Shump he simply would've said the rumors aren't true next question without cursing and making show of it.

It pains me to say it but Shump deserves to go somewhere other than this organization because as long as Dolan and his band of lickspittle dullards are in charge guys like Shump have no chance of development.

I always thought Woodson was fond of Shump prior to this year. Not sure anymore but Woodson has started Shump in all thirteen games and Shump's play certainly could earn him a trip to the bench.

And I don't know if you can go on any roster and take two starters out of their roster and they still survive," Woodson added. "They might play in spurts like we are doing today. I am not making excuses, but I would sure love to take my chances with Tyson and Raymond in my lineup."

Woodson said he planned to have a "long sit-down and air it out" with players at practice Tuesday in Los Angeles about comments that came out of the Knicks' locker room before and after the team's 102-91 loss in Portland on Monday.

The Knicks (3-10) have lost seven of nine games since Chandler went down with a fractured right fibula. They have also played the past four games without Felton, who is out with back and hip injuries.

Frustration has grown with each loss. After Monday's setback, Stoudemire said his frustration level was "at an all-time high" and that the Knicks need to pass more.

"It's hard for any player to get a good rhythm when the ball don't move," Stoudemire told reporters in Portland. "I have been playing my entire career when the ball moves, and everybody ends up having a career year. When the ball don't move, guys can't get into a rhythm, they don't touch the ball often enough to get into a rhythm, and it makes it tough for the rest of the teammates to have fun out there.

"Right now we are not having fun. And the ball is not moving. We are playing one pass, one shot at this point. Teams that move the ball win. Teams that don't lose. It is pretty simple."

Anthony said before the defeat to the Blazers that the losing also has taken a toll on him.

"When you're losing, it's not fun," Anthony told reporters at the Knicks' Monday morning shootaround. "Are we having fun on the basketball court? No. The game is not fun right now. When you start pressing, pressing, pressing, it makes everything that much worse. So no, we're not having fun playing basketball."

Woodson said the comments by Stoudemire and Anthony would be addressed at Tuesday's practice. The Knicks play the Los Angeles Clippers (10-5) on Wednesday night.

"I am not going to air out our stuff [on] the air like that," Woodson said. "I am going to address that in the locker room today when we have practice. There are a number of things that you can point the finger at. I always look at the defensive end first because that is where it starts."

Shumpert is pissed off because the ball is not moving, and woodson is not holding MELO accountable, yet you wanna come down on him cause he's young

Woodson at this point is making everybody look bad, himself, the players, the owner..

Even though melo is playing hard, and has shot decently in the last couple of games and is rebounding the ball very well, it is an absolute disrespect to the game, the fans and franchise the way this guy will not pass the ball, and keeps calling his own #, he talks about leadership and says a few (guys aren't playing with effort)lines and classify that as a sign of leadership..spear me please

Move the fkng balll you jack ass, then maybe guys will play with some passion and energy..

That moron can easily avg 6 to 7 ast a game, but he wont get it through his assinie skull. we went on an 11-0 run last night aftr being down 17 and he had 3 ast, and 1 hockey ast..

How can woodson night in an night out look at a stat sheet and see that your team is on pace to shoot the least amount of FT in one season then any other team in the history of the NBA..

Our To's went down, not because we are taking care of the ball, it's because the ball is not moving, no ones moving..The first 6 possession in the portland game resulted in melo iso..he made 2 pretty (but still ill advised) turn around fadeaways, we went back to him 3 straight times with no one else touching the ball...

Beno is looking for his shot more and more, shumpert runs down court sometimes at full speed with no idea what he's going to do, JR gets the ball and he's either taking a 3, or setting up his own iso, Bargi is a catch and shoot big man, who will drive occasionally..

God damn Kmart is the only player we have right now thats playing with any sense, ironically he was inserted into the starting line up (last season) when we won 13 straight..

We are stuck in mud because of 2 things, lack of ball movement, and Lack of FT's, the defense is not great either, but I'm blaming that on the energy at the other end which is lacking tremendously

Does Amar'e know he never passes the ball regardless of double team for two years straight? He has a point the ball get stuck in Melo's hands but it also get stuck in Amar'e, MWP, JRs, and Bargnani hand too.

I've read that people think Amare's comments are hinting towards Melo which I find odd because Melo actively looks for Amare every time they're on the floor together.

I'm guessing that Woodson doesn't realize that Shump might feel like its piling on at a times and the way he's going about it is making things worse. Woodson said he was going to have a talk with him, maybe he can give him a vote of confidence, which couldn't hurt considering.

Amare is not looking for the ball. He just wants to see ball movement. He knows ball movement, player movement, transition basketball better than anyone on the roster

He said Woodson preaches ball movement and it's up to the players. So who do you think of? Melo and JR

Still say Woodson. Assuming what Amare said is true, Woodson could at the very least sit JR down every time he gets out of hand (I know he's not sitting Melo for obvious reasons).

melo knows how to pass the ball, if he's passing, everyones passing..trust me

Does Amar'e know he never passes the ball regardless of double team for two years straight? He has a point the ball get stuck in Melo's hands but it also get stuck in Amar'e, MWP, JRs, and Bargnani hand too.

This team is assembled by throwing together at least 4 pure finishers.
Melo, JR, Stat, and Bargs have no idea how to run offense.
All their NBA carriers they were putting the ball in the hole.
They do not know better and in fact they should not. Too late.
The crazy people who put this thing together have no friking idea about the game.
This team can be infinitely better if any one of them will be replace with decent NBA level PG.

Yeah and last night one of Melo's assists in the third quarter was to amare. Melo had what should have been another assist but Amare turned the ball over. Not the guy that should be criticizing things right now in my opinion at least to the press.

melo has the ball 85% of the time, he's 2nd in the league in minutes played , our entire offense runs through him, and your pointing out a pass that he gave amare that he turned over..Are you serious crush..

melo knows how to pass the ball, if he's passing, everyones passing..trust me

It was another one of Amare's brutal turnovers and it was right after he was fed a sure basket from Melo. Yeah I am serious. Melo isos too much but Amare is the last guy that should be going to the press with complaints.

In Shumpert's past nine games, he has scored in double figures just twice. In the past three games, Shumpert has scored a total of 10 points and shot a combined 3-for-13.

Shumpert had no points, no rebounds, no assists, one steal, two turnovers and three fouls in 23 minutes. He missed all three of his shots from the field

The uncontested air ball from three was particularly endearing to a coach trying to end a 5 game losing streak.
Knick problems at this point:
a. Tyson is out
b. Ray is out and was hurt before he was out.
c. Shump and JR are playing like ish.
d. Melo is trying to overcompensate for a, b, and c.
e. Amare has been done for 2 1/2 years, doesn't realize it and the owner wants to not look like a fool for signing him so he still gets minutes for the 30 games he is healthy annually.

13 shot attempts for your starting SHOOTING GUARD in 3 games..what is that like 4.1 pg..yeah some rhythm is going to gather with that many touches..same thing for amare, he's out of sync altogether because he has no real pg and his min are as erratic as ever..

It's no flow in the game brother, and on defense there's no comunication, guys are following the ball or there man..no trapping (we were so successfully at that last season) it's either there backs are tunred to the ball or they follow it and lose there man or just switch...lazy ass defense that results in wide open 3's and easy layups

You can't convince me that ball movement and communication isn't the key..spread the floor and play descpline..

Funny how people say a new coach wouldn't matter, yet we seen woody take the same Roster MDA departed from at 5 games under .500 and reel off 9 out 10 wins..

Woody lost the locker room and he knows it, but then again he is so clueless right now that he would sit at a stop sign for 2 minutes thinking its a RED light..

Woody has lost his starting center, starting point guard, his gm and autonomy in regards to the roster and minutes. He essentially is an employee but he hasn't lost the locker room in my opinion. Remember when Woody took over the Blazers played for Nate in his last game and were ridiculously bad. That was a lost locker room. The Knicks play hard but stupid at times. I don't see the replace Woodson with someone else at this point logic. I don't see things improving. If the Knicks could add a marquee coach that would change things then I say do it. But that guy is going to be an assistant if Woodson is fired during the season, most likely Herb. Not down for that. Woodson won enough with a roster that kept having to patched together to get a bit more time in my opinion.
