been watching bball since the mid 80's. watched basically all of jordan's career and i have to say that i think lebron is the greatest player i have ever seen. unlike jordan, lebron has to run the entire offense for his team. no triangle, no other offensive creators...it's just him running everything. and he is doing it at absolutely ridiculous efficiencey (60/50/80 %'s WOW) and also asked to win every single close game down the stretch.

this is it. he had all the hype in the world and pressure placed on his shoulders and he exceeded all expectations.

Magic was amazing, but Lebron's defense and outside shooting seem to be on a different level. Still, Magic seemed to instill more confidence in his teammates for some reason.

Lebron is the only player I've seen who can run as fast as the fastest guard....and strong as the strongest forward. Can guard all 5 positions. Came in with the most hype, and exceeded that hype.

Until he retires, I will never say he's better than Jordan or Magic....Those guys were well liked by everybody....In the eyes of kids these days, they all look at Lebron the same way we looked at MJ and Magic.

So I can't compare superstars from different generations, because each generation is unique in it's own way.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

LEBRON is a great defender, but magic just controlled the game... in so many ways.. what a winner..

I have tried to make this arguement to many and the legacy of Jordan looms to large for folks to see the truth.

Horace grant is under rated.
Rodman was incredible
Pippen was a 6-8 lock down parimeter player who can play defense better than Wade, and often Pip guarded the opponents best players.
Cartwright was better than any Heat center.
Ron Harper? Dude had a nice game. Better than current verson of Ray allen.
BJ armstrong=Chalmers
Steve Kerr, Toni Kukec, etc etc........

The one full year mike was out the BUlls won 55 games. Miami is toast without Lebron.

And coached by Phil Jax who did a great job and built his cred with that team.......

A team that got a make over while Jordan had his Suspension or nervous breakdown.
Two three peats and most think Jordan was the only player.

Im not taking a thing away from Jordan, he was incredible but the point should not be about Lebron colluding, its still about the quality of the teams and the Heat are not as good as the bulls were. Bosh is not special, he is better than Horace Grant but Bosh is not special and Wade vs. Pippen might be a better comparison. Pip was a top 50 HOF caliber and was a great long player who could do alot off the ball.

Lebron has carried his team in way Jordan did not have to. The legacy videos of Jordan don't show his short comings, it shows the great moments and there were many.

At 6-8 and 260 he could have done very well in the physical era himself. Flopping is not his invention, he does it to win, just like Jordan used being physical or mind games on his opponents. Lebron is not as driven as mike was but this kid is pretty focused and has grown up in Miami.

Lebron is the next evolution of the greatest player. Its a story still being written. Don't write it off as you might miss it.

Isn't Lebron 2-2 in NBA Finals? How could he be the greatest?

Doesn't clutch matter? Jordan was 6-0 in NBA Finals with 6 NBA Finals MVPs.

Dumb conversation...

If you stat heads want to argue Lebron's all around game, efficiency or assists, Jordan's one season at age 25 in 1988-89 obliterates Lebron's best:

Michael Jordan: Per Game (1987-88 to 1988-89)

32 PPG, 8 REB/GM, 8 AST/GM, 3 STLS/GM, 1 BLK/GM on 54% FG and 85% FT

Is he the greatest of our era, of course! Greatest player over Michael Jordan is a stretch man. There's no metric: wins, stats, rings that even come close to backing that claim up.

Stupidazz kids these days.

Nalod, as usual makes two points at once. Lebron may be the greatest. Someday. That day has not yet arrived.

Yeah, and Mike did that during the days when guys could use playground defensive tactics to keep guys out of the paint. I cringe seeing old video footage of the Celtics and Pistons playing defense.

Greatest player as statistically deviations go is Wilt Chamberlin. Dudes numbers were off the charts.

Greatest winner of all time is Bill Russell. 2 NCAA chips and 11 NBA. If by that measure then Jordan falls short. Celts were great teams and great teams have great players. Can we say the same about thhe Bulls? Two three peats over 8 years is no joke and

Where does that leave Lebron? As facilitator it becomes more subjective.

Nalod then puts Lebron. Behind Wilt as dude that can carry a franchise by himself but not to a slew of championships.

DJ is talking about the Greatest he has ever seen, not the greatest ever.

Nalod (third person) saw wilt in his last harrah days and never could figure out how he scored all those pts. Dude was big but lost his shot by the time I saw him. Kareem was dominant with the Bucks and carried them and an older Oscar to chip. Magic had a great ensomble of players, including the underrated James worthy. The Nalod love of ABA Dr J was valid. He did great things but the ABA was uneven at the end and the Philly teams did under achieve. Larry Bird never had the physical gifts to make one go wow.

So I guess Its Jordan or Lebron for the young DJ, and I too think that Lebron is the best player he has ever seen, but Jordan was a winner on a very very good Bulls team. Two classifications. Lebron is the Love child of Magic and Jordan but at 28 has yet to collect the bling.

we have been through this many times

Lebron is by far, the greatest athlete in the NBA and possibly of any sport in the career of sports
Jordan is by far the best NBA player and the most CLUTCH ever with efficiency on both ends of the floor

different generations of basketball with different defenses, Lebron doesn't get closelined with cheap shots like Jordan did with the "bad boys", "Knick's", and "tough 80's style DEF"
NBA is far different as they want to protect players/superstars even more and generate/promote higher scorers/more stats to create more highlights and fans

You must remember that when Bill Russell played the playoff games were less. Than in Jordan's time. Jordan to get to his title had to go through 4 rounds.

Yea I think it's ridiculous when people bring up Russell when it was a completely different era. He played with Wilt. They had to change the rules because wilt was dunking his free throws. You know who says Russell is the greatest player of all time? Mike Francessa who knows nothing about the NBA

Jordan is the greatest end of story

If the game was entirely physical, Lebron.

Add mental, and Jordan still has him beat.

Lets be real here, NONE of us have EVER seen a player like Lebron. He's basically Magic, Karl Malone and Jordan all wrapped up in one player. He's HUGE, Strong, Quick and Fast, Athletic, a great passer, good handle, can defend, entertaining, hard worker, great stamina and he's improved over his career. As others have pointed out, when have we seen a guy that can basically run his team like he does, be one of it's top defenders and clutch scorer? Jordan set the bar really high and only a few players can approach that level. Lebron is one of those players. Lebron has a lot of time to still add to his greatness.

Jordan is the Legend. LeBron is reality.
When LeBron will be the Legend it will be some other guy. May be even better.
Not sure what all this has to do with the Knicks.

I am going to change things up and go with live performances that I have seen. MJ is number one. I was only able to see him live once and it was in an exhibition game. He hit a half court buzzer beater at the end of the first half of an exhibition game. I have seen lbj live about six times. HOF but not the player MJ was. My son was amazed with Shaq but the most talented young player that I saw was Juwann Howard when he was a Bullet. Blew me away and Webber was on that team. I thought Howard was a sure fire hof. Honorable mention guys, Ewing, Mjax, Jnewman, Xman, Mueresan, McDyess. I don't get to see a lot of games live now that I live upstate but I do think the experience is different and you see more.
I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18
lebron james is the greatest player i have ever seen
