The sweep by NJ was disappointed, but you have to remember everything we got accomplished this year.

Brought in Marbury (along with Penny)
Gave experience to Sweets and Franky.
Got rid of Chaney (even though most of you want Lenny gone)
Brought in a new starting center.

IMO this was a pretty good year. Can't wait to see what happens with rasheed. If we can't get him, I would love to see us resign Baker.

All we can do is wonder if we'd still be going if we only had Houston.

Well, there needs to be offseason trades. I hope there are trades during the Draft...Is that possible? We need to trade Shandon because he is garbage and we need to get more athletic and get rid of big contracts or substitute for better, bigger players. Lenny is most likely going to be fired. I mean, yeah he brought them to the Playoffs, but a sweep might mean a change in the coaching area of the NYK.

I hope we can get 1 or 2 star players and still keep Frank and Sweetney.I will like to see Doc Rivers as our head coach.we need to get rid of Kurt he's to slow.Marbury needs to step up and grow up and realize that he is the leader of this team and stop sulking when we're losing and stop rushing to shoot 3 pointers he's great when he penetrates.

I dont really think we need star players, only some good role players, ones that can play some d, and hit open jumpers. I'd love to see doc here too, but as far as kurt goes, im not against trading him if we get someone pretty good out of it, but we dont NEED to get rid of him. He's an excellent defender and has a solid jumper. we NEED to get rid of shandon. He cant hit anything and while people keep saying hes a good defender, he's been slipping, making unnecessary fouls, and not really even stopping the other player.

Despite the quick 1st round exit.. we had a great season.
If we were the Lakers at the beginning of the season of course it would be said we had a terrible season.
At the start of the Season we were below the Sixers, Toronto, and a few other teams. We made significant strides.

1. Layden was fired (More significant that getting Marbury in my opinion)
2. We got Isiah who has shown some real prowess at the Helm.
3. We got a great Point Guard and a backup Rookie who had the chance to prove himself and did.
4. We got Rid of Eisley and Weatherspoon!
5. Sweetney has developed into a really big asset for this team
6. We acquired Penny Hardaway who has proven to be a terrific roleplayer

The offseason:
Although we may not have a pick in the first round of this upcoming draft I am not concerned.
We have a alot of expiring contracts that allow us some flexibility in the trade department.
We have a team that players actually want to become a part of.. unlike the start of the season.

We should buy out or trade Shandon as he is absolutely worthless and takes up a valuable roster spot on our team.

We should try to upgrade our 4 and 5 with someone who can actually score with his back to the basket consistently.. (won't be easy for us)

We should find a consistent jump shooter who can back up Allan or take over for him should he not be back 100% (God Forbid)

I am happy with our 1(Marbury), 2 (if Houston healthy), and 3 (Tim)..
We are a much better team in so many respects...
I am proud of our accomplishments this season.

boy knick fans have lowered their standards

a 39-43 record in the east and being swept is NOT a good season. if this team was in the west wed be sitting in lottery spot 6 or 7 with 30 wins tops. at the very least with the absolutely crppy east and having marbury for the majority of the season, not finishing .500 is failure in my book. miami had more injuries half the payroll and finished 43-39 after starting 0-7 after only winning 23 games last year--they showed marked improvement and have a defined young core--we have a defined nothing

this team is still a mess with so many questions allan houston could *legitimately* never play again--we have 7 PF and no C--we have older players and a drunk who can blowout at any minute. Tim Thomas has absolutely no blls for not attempting to play some of these last two playoff games.
See we are only comparing oursleves against the Nets--how about the entire west-we are not better than 1 western playoff team --not 1 memphis is better houston is better denver is better and the others are 2-3-4 times better.

they wont do it because of money, but i would still rebuild this team from the ground up. i wouldnt even think about it, I KNOW that is the way to go if it is done the right way. but it will never happen and you are banking on cablevision to spend even more $$$$$ which is mind-boggling

i have no idea about the knicks this is a club that could finish anywhere from 4-5 seed to out of the playoffs IMHO. I know there will be some rose colored glasses who think we can jump up to the 3rd seed, but that is not happening.

The team will be good again when we know for a fact that we can atleast vie for it all--there is no lock from any team that they will win--although SA looks darn good again this year--but if you spend all this money 39 wins and a sweep with 2 blowouts is failure--how can you measure it a success?

Hey Playa.. I mean Briggs..
Fact of the matter is we were years away from the playoffs with our roster at the beggining of the season.
There was no player on our team to take over as a real talent once Houston was out.
We were stuck with a bunch of overpaid guys.. still some linger..
But we got rid of Weatherspoon and Eisley...

We gave up some picks that may or may not have in the future panned out for a solid starter in Marbury.

When push comes to shove... we were too good to be get a top 3 pick of any year for the next 3 years... so any case for rebuilding is also a case for a gamble... as there are more duds than prospective stars in these drafts.

But you'll keep arguing the same old thing.. that's fine...
I think until you start addressing what others on this board have stated that basically invalidates many of your arguements.. and become a lil open minded about your position... Most will continue to skip over your posts.. I know I will... anyways...

Good season Fellas!

Next thing to look forward to besides the Nets and Lakers' demise is the expansion draft... see if we unload any cap killers off our roster. And to see if IT pulls a nice draft day surprise for us in this H.S. alumni filled lottery.

Go Knicks!!!

Hey,

It's been a while since I've posted with any regularity--- am I the only one who finds this team a little hard to root for? I'd say that this team is arguably as flawed as it was when we started the season, perhaps with less upside.

Let's just say that we gave up a lot to get Marbury. We gave up young projects Vujanic and Lampe, a couple of 1st rounders; we also effectively ended the Knicks career of Frank Williams. As far as I'm concerned, he's pure tradebait now--- at his position, he has no future with the Knicks, that is unless Marbury get re-routed again which is entirely possible given his history.

The KVH/Doleac for TT/Mohammed trade is still open to debate--- I'm not sure if either of the new players has found their role with the team yet. TT has never found a clear role or identity in his career and I sure as hell hope he does soon.

Memo to TT--> get healthy, and figure out who you are. I think you have the talent and ability to come back and win the most improved player award. All of the tools are there, you just need to put it all together. Keep your mouth shut--- let your game do the talking for you. Look at what Lamar Odom was able to do this year--- he regained some of the moxie he had back in high school, while leading Miami to a top-4 seed in the playoffs. He upped his career high in rebounds by over two boards a game. You can be better than him. You can play tough.

It's ironic that TT and KVH are having about the same level of success in this year's playoffs--- TT has missed games due to injury... while KVH has been on the court (at least physically) while nursing his very damaged middle finger on his shooting hand. (he's coming back from a freakish injury earlier this month where his right middle finger got caught in the net after he dunked, apparently tearing some ligaments and dilocating the finger -- ouch).

Spacing has been a huge issue since the KVH/Doleac trade--- as I mentioned in many threads, these were perfect role players for Marbury--- two players who could really shoot the ball and keep defenses honest. An ideal team will have its share of slashers/shooters/low-post players. You can live with 2 out of 3. We only had slashers. Without the two other elements, we struggled.

The Knicks' biggest concern is grabbing a top defensive coach--- How about Dick Harter--- grab him before O'Brien brings him over to Philly. The Knicks have ZERO defensive identity. We need someone who will teach these guys to play like a unit. We were picked apart like a team put together on a playground. In the half-court game, NJ had us playing like it was a 3 on 1 break. We were totally off-balance and couldn't get any critical stops even if our season depended on it.
With our young mix, we need someone who can teach that.

Benching Othella Harrington for this series may have hurt us a tad. His post-up skills and his ability to take a charge (or at least trip up offensive players driving to the basket) would have helped. He's obviously not in our plans now that Sweetney has developed... so with a little luck he'll help us net someone with potential.
