Wow. I'm not a child, I'm a grown man. But as a fan, it's my job to believe in the improbable. This doesn't mean that I swallow the company line and don't complain when players are overpayed and underperforming. But it does mean that I'm entitled to a silver lining.

No one thought this team was good. Not one honest or intelligent fan would bet money on the Knicks to take this series. But dealing with all seventeen local papers bashing a team for losing games they were supposed to lose is too much to bear.

I submit that in no other city would the papers tear a sub-.500 team apart day after day for losing to the two-time Conference Champs with two starters injured.

Won't even one journalist cut us some slack?
Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

it's not that they're only trashing the knicks, they NEVER mention that allan houston, a 20 ppg scorer, and tim thomas, a 15 ppg scorer, are ON THE BENCH! they're talking about the team like without them, we should still have a chance of winning. it's not like ewing went down and we had spree and camby off the bench. we got shandon and penny. it's so frustrating, and these guys have been following the team of years.

It's inexcuseable, biased reporting. Negativity sells newpapers. Our city is too jaded to spend $.50 on a "Little Engine That Couldn't" story.

It's journalistic impulses like those that deprived the opportunity of even appreciating the Knick teams we had in the 90s until we woke up one day with nothing but Sprewel and Houston. By then, the entire conference had passed us by.

the least they could do is run Shandon out of town but instead they are too busy on trying to incite a riot!

how about alonzo mourning-heck the nets havent had him for most of the season--id rather have a healthy zo than houston. in game 1 we were whole with a max player player in penny hardaway taking many of h2O minutes. and we were down 20 something before thoams went down---is there an excuse there or that if houston was there wed be up 2-1 although we got punished in game 2? we dont know if h2o will ever play again or if he will ever play at that level again--you are guaranteing it--how can you do that? you cant!

I can't believe I'm reading this.

At the time 'Zo went down the Nets were 5-7, and he was averaging 8 points and 2 rebounds. He was a detriment to the Nets offense becuase he was slow and couldn't run in their fast break. He was an awful acquisition, Rod Thorn's bad transaction count up to 3 (Trading for Mutumbo, signing Chris Childs, signing 'Zo.)

The fact that Penny is a max player doesn't mean he is a max player and he shouldn't be expected to produce like a max player, your just mentioning to strengthen this argument of yours.

Houston 19 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, shot 43 percent from 3 point range, and 45 percent from the field. Compared to our starting SG of Shandon Anderson, who so far is averaging 4 points, 3 turnovers, shooting 26 percent from 3 pt range, and 23 percent from the field.

Come on Briggs, even you can't dispute that. The Knicks lost 15 points per game and a great shooter, the series would be A LOT different if a healthy Houston was playing. The fact that he might not be healthy again still doesn't change the fact that a healthy Houston changes this series. At least admit that.

zo? are you kidding me? this guy had nothing to do with going to the finals the past two years and did nothing for them the first month of the season. don't bring up zo - a total non-factor.

AH and TT not playing in this series should be remembered by those who read the papers for their ideas. Marbury, the lone catalyst for this offense, was tripled teamed at times.
