as much as I don't like Melo and his game, I have to give him credit for playing hard. If the struggles we're having are because of effort, I would say that Melo is playing hard and he's somewhat leading by example. Not that he's succeeding or anything, but he's at least trying.

He should have tried to save us some assets in his trade. Now he sleeps in the bed he made.

I like Melo i honestly do. However i have never made him out to be better than he is or worse than he is. he is one of the best scorers in the game there is no dispute about that. i do feel his shoulder is really affectinh him. Now although he is a great scorer he isnt as good in the other aspects of his game. I dont think he can be "the guy" who can lead a team to a title or even a nba finals. Thats not a knock on him because very few guys are but thats just the way it is. I do feel that giving him a max contract isnt the right move unless we plan on somehow getting a very good draft pick which is unlikely or signing a guy like kevin love which is probably unliekly

These guys make good coin, congratulating effort is a disgrace....that's their main job.

It's like thanking a cashier for giving me correct change.

this is true...

but to compare it to say the D'antoni stepping down situation, Melo is going all out right now. That Houston game he was pounding that ball inside like a mad man....now he was forcing a lot, but he was frantic in that game. He was going hard in Atlanta too....it' noticeable when one guy is going hard and the rest are just coasting.

Knicks need a shake up and Melo has all but demanded it publicly.

Denver demanded stuff and Donnie wasn't wit that....Dolan made that call.

as Eny pointed out, he's been more determined going to the hoop. And he's playing plenty of minutes. He could easily just coast and only shoot his same ol' mid range ISO pullups.

But I get it, we all more or less hate Melo.

There was a similar discussion during the Melo/MDA debacle - and I agree. They should definitely do their job given their compensation, but I suppose I'm becoming jaded as Knick fan expecting this. But one of my biggest knocks on Melo is usually his lackadaisical approach and his lack of effort. And in the last few games he has seemed less mellow. So kudos to Melo in my book. Still want to trade him and I want his value to be as high as possible.

Not really - 67 of his 197 FGAs have been near the rim. That's around his percentage the last few years, and it's much lower than it should be.
He's actually hit only 46 of his 130 shots outside of the rim area. You'd think he'd learn by now what he's good and not good at.

So we going to act like melo had no say in it? Melo could have pulled a Howard or at least threatened to do it. What did the Rockets have to give the Lakers to get Howard? The fact that he made it be known from the start that he wanted as much money as he could get gave the nuggets leverage. if he would have given the impression that he would rather sign in the offseason it would have given us leverage. He did not even have to mean it. He just make the nuggets believe it. Lebron took less, Wade took less, Bosh took less and Howard took less. Melo got every single penny he could.

Don't get me wrong, if he wants to make as much money as possible that his decision. Just do not be surprised when you are not surrounded by better players.

Playing hard is good but playing smart is better.
How long he can do this minutes at this pace in NBA before getting tired and injured.
He is not LBJ and he is not playing even a half-smart LBJ does.
I know Melo likes boxing and in boxing this is the way to go.
But we are talking bbal here. Last time I checked it was a team game.

At the very least, would've been nice to have this guy:

I still blame Dolan more than Melo for that though.

DLee gets double doubles and he's historical cream and a quality all star.
Melo does the same and he's dogsheet because we traded away two casualties and Blake's poster boy. 3 years ago.

Yes, and the draft picks, moan about the draft picks.
And the 3 mil in cash, because you know you're still so concerned about Jimmie's cashflow.

Whining never gets old.
