He can still shoot but I question his ability with speed/quickness and NBA shape/legs to run/defend/rebound and penetrate/facilitate/ at the high level, with HIGH ASS and LOW TO ratio he was playing at in the late season run
He didn't even score or attempt many shots at one point either and was highly effective for assist, FG%, REB's, DEF, and a pair of steals
but it can be a blessing in a sense as well because JR should not be taking many off balance, off the dribble shots anyway, as they are poor shots, especially when NOT needed with much time left, he is a very good shooter but like Melo is too confident in their ability to make shots including poor % shots
So basically I am saying he should take more shots in which he has room to square up and set his legs
When he gets back in NBA caliber shape....
Hopefully he will be able to play with that ATTACKING style, with AB to spread the floor like Copeland/Wallace did, because their OFF abilities compliment each other very well
JR showed he was capable of being more than just a 6th man type role/scorer and hopefully it wasn't a 1year fluke
However he never got that opportunity to do so as he loss confidence vs better defenders, more importantly, the DEF played him differently when teams covered the paint and Woodson did not put the shooters in to spread the floor
We won't be a good DEF team, our players are just too old, and simply don't have that ability as a whole, we often need too much HELP way too easily on too many positions, we need a different philosophy and better rotation to hide it, while being a higher FG % team with consistency and understanding on how to recover for positions on REB and DEF for transition
