Melo gave me six reasons to love him last night...

not only that but he scored 28 points with a high percentage...
I hope last night made Melo realize he can still take many shots a game AND still dish out more than two and a half assists a night.

If Melo can average 5 assists a night a championship is very realistic... mark my words.

If the Knicks learn ball movement watch out.

Yes he had a great overall game but like i mentioned in the Bargnani thread this was still the Bobcats. Now we know Melo can score against any team but if he can dish out 5-6 assists and 7-8 rebounds per game that would be great

I pick on melo for being selfish but I hv to admit it seems like hes trying to get others involved this yr
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

He has been passing a lot, guys have to hit shots for him too to get an assist.

This is the Melo I would like to see on a nightly basis. But gut feeling tells me this is an aberration.

Yeah true... but reguardless, passing and getting your team mates involved pays dividends against bad AND good teams. Ball movement is the seed that sprouts good offense.

Yeah true there will be nights like that but the more this happens the more his team mates will be expecting the ball and the more they will be expecting his passes and set up for the shots... just like Melo will know where and how his team mates like to receive the ball court wise and in what position. The great passers not only knew where to throw the ball but also knew where on their team mates body to throw it at... some want it chest high some chin high etc... and also there is the rhythm. Great passers raise their team mates shooting percentage... Steve Nash etc.

Great new stat from the NBA that takes into account teammate misses. I think Felton is averaging in the 11 range.

Seems like an unnecessary stat unless you're on a team with terrible shooters, which would deflate your assist #s. Players should a little under 50%. And then sometimes you're fouled after a pass is made to you. I'd expect someone averaging 3 assists a game to have around 8 opportunities a game.

it is amazing what one game vs the bobcats can do... so I guess the next bad game, everyone will be justified jumping off the cliff again.. right?

They track that too but before last night that ranked him in the top 25 players.

More than the assists, I actually want to give Melo credit for calling that players only meeting. Seemed to be the catalysts for last nights performance.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

One thing that annoys me- it seems every game Melo will get hit across the head, his headband will go flying off and no foul is called. I'm sick of seeing him get hammered and the refs ignoring it. Meanwhile Durant just got another 19 FTs last night what a joke.

Durant attacks the basket much better than Melo does. It's actually shocking that Durant only took 1.5 more trips a game to the line last year than Melo.

depends on how well he creates cohesion in the process.

also if he makes a desperation or low quality pass that is neither particularly accurate or particularly timely/in rhythm, then the recipient's chances of converting are lowered.

since shooting is becoming more and more of a lost skill or an undeveloped one the burden falls to the passer even more than ever... unless you insist that it is never melo's fault.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
