I've been thinking about Bargs starting a lot. I think not starting 2 PG's is worse than starting Bargs in general. This is why I feel we'll be ok with Bargs starting at C as long as Felton and Prigs start in the back court. Bargnani hasn't been a horrible 1 on 1 defender, either this year or for his career. He'll have trouble rebounding. There's no question about that. But if he can make up for it with decent D and scoring on PnR and in the post we should be ok:

C-Bargs
F-Melo
F-Shump
G-Prigs
G-Felton

JR Smith
MWP
Kenyon
Beno
Amar'e

Cole Aldrich
THJr
Tourre Murray
Chris Smith

I think the 10 man rotation is more than enough to be successful against most teams. Our guards are going to have to go after boards. JR excelled at this last year, as did Kidd. It will be extremely important with Bargs starting at C.

If Bargs is going to play Center than you have to start Martin next to him.

We've gone from small ball to microscopic ball.

If you mean because Bargs doesn't play like a 7 footer, then yes. But Bargs is more skilled on offense than Tyson so maybe the net effect wont be as bad as people think. Or maybe it'll be a disaster and Kenyon will have to start. I don't know.

But if this works Bargs HAS to become permanent backup C behind Tyson when he comes back. That would be best case scenario in all of this. Forcing Woodson to see what had already been clear as day.

That is unlikely to happen. We are taking a small-ball lineup and running with it. Will be weak on the boards and defensively but should outscore teams.

Andrea Bargnani is a shooting guard who happens to be 7 feet tall.

I mean because you have a PG defending SGs, a SG defending SFs, a SF defending PFs, and a ***** defending Cs.

Toure Murry - we could use the change of pace and the height

Andrea Bargnani - see above

JR Smith - finally a starter

Carmelo Anthony - his shoulder is not right, he dare not complain

Cole Aldrich - you cannot teach size. Let him play himself into shape

Sixth Man - Ron World Peace

Don't expect any reinforcements:

Translation: when we signed JR we agreed to keep Chris Smith on the roster all season

you start AB and Melo and MWP up front- I think that is the best group up front to start.

Then move Shump back to the bench, and go with Prig & Felton in the back court.

You need Felton on offense to get to the rim.

what to do with a clumsy roster? taking half-measures at this point is a non-starter. either you go small and try to outscore or you go defensive and try to win by suffocating the opponent.

who are the best 5 offensive players-- prigioni felton hardaway/shumpert melo bargnani

who are the best 5 defensive players-- prigioni shumpert artest (melo) martin

woodson should try these two lineups and see what comes of it. he won't of course but he should

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
