Don't think Boston wants any of our pieces. Maybe Shumpert but that won't be enough. We don't have any near future picks to dangle either. Gotta wait til after 2015 then blow it up and start over. Sign players that actually fit a plan this time.

Might be asking a lot though when Dolan is your owner

I think we have to be creative but it can be done. There are a lot of young prospects on the market that might interest Boston e.g Derrick Williams, Kenneth Faried, Austin Rivers, Greg Smith, Jeremy Lin etc. If we figure out a way to parlay our assets into a few of them and take back all of the bad contracts that the Celtics have, we might be able to get a deal done.

Melo needs a consistent PG. Felton has the ability to be a really good PG, but he just isn't consistent enough. I am not sure why. Felton takes way to many breaks on the court like he's on vacation.

I've been under the impression that he is a backup PG at best. He can't run an offense, which makes him a liability as a starter especially given his shoddy defense against faster PG's.

What's the point? Other than Shumpert, we have absolutely nothing that Boston would want.

If you combine what we get from these trades with Amare's contract and draft picks, I think we'd have a legitimate shot at getting Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green, Gerald Wallace, Courtney Lee and Brandon Bass. Like I said, we'd have to be extremely creative.

I wonder if waiting for 2015 would be better than taking on those longer termed deals though. I have serious reservations about Melo's longer term health and I believe that making this move would relegate us to building around he and Rondo moving forward.

Why would Boston want Shump? They Avery Bradley- is Shump really much better than him? Plus I'm really not sure about getting Rondo- he's capable of having a really s***y attitude, and as we know the Knicks can bring out the worst in players.

As bad as it is, I don't think they have to blow it up. We have good wings and are deep at the 2/3 Shump, Smith, Hardaway Jr, Artest, Melo. What we need is an all star level PG and some productive hustle PF/Cs who can play D, rebound, and hit 15fters as well.

Those are interesting though I find it hard to believe Dolan will ever allow Lin in a Knicks uniform again. And a package of Derrick Williams, Faried, and Jordan Hamilton at least gets Boston's attention. The problem is still that Boston is going to want multiple 1st rounders and we can't give them one until 2018.

New to the forum but first thing I looked for was any threads about the point guard situation. The sad reality for me is that despite other faults until Felton is replaced with someone who is genuinely elite this team will do absolutely nothing. At times he is capable and he had a decent enough 2012-13 season but he is just never going to be good enough to get us anywhere further than a quick play off exit (at best). He is way too inconsistent and just doesn't have the drive, focus and extra edge of the top PG's. As soon as the Pierce/Garnett trade happened the Rondo move was mooted and for me its an excellent and exciting option. His attitude and abilities are a huge upgrade on Felton and he would be an excellent support for Melo. Whilst there may not be an obvious and straightforward trade with the Celtics it should be looked at seriously as the team is going nowhere with Felton steering it.

They already have multiple first round picks from the Nets for 2014, 2016 and 2018. Because of that and the fact that we could take on their bad contracts, I think we might be able to get a deal done by using our 2018 and 2020 picks. I still wonder if the promise of Rajon Rondo past would be worth foregoing our cap flexibility in 2015. Rondo, after all, might never be the same or duplicate the success he had in Boston. Needless to say, it would be a BIG gamble by the Knicks.

We have some young players and the ability to take on the big contracts, so Rondo is a reasonable possibility near the trade deadline. It is a big gamble, but no more of a gamble than hoping we come up with a big free agent in 2015.
