The success of this season's New York Knicks will rely upon significant contributions from I Man Shumpert, Tim Hardaway Jr, Andrea Bargnani and JR Smith. Would prefer that Hardaway stay in rotation AFTER Smith returns. Barring injury, that will be a delicate balancing act for Woodson.

Not worried about Tyson Chandler, as it appears he is focused and ready to take the lead with the frontcourt defensive effort.

Ron World Peace is the X factor. His shot selection is less important than his passion for winning.

Anything added by Cole Aldrich and (hopefully) Jeremy Tyler is gravy.

If early results tell anything, the collective defensive focus shows positive signs. Turnovers will be cleaned up with repetition.

Good attempt, doubt it lasts.

The one I am concerned with is Tyson, I doubt the team will go the whole season allowing him to take jumpers, and when he isnt involved on offense he doesnt do his primary job.

To be honest we have way too much in the backcourt and kinda thin up front....I expect a deal to happen before the deadline.

Life gets better when we don't try to turn every single thread into a Melo hate thread.

Papabear Says

When our shots start falling I think we will be a dangerous team. I think we need to score 95 - 105 points a night in order for us to win. I watched Amare the other night and he made 4 shots but caused more turnovers and 4 fouls in 10 min. not good.

So now you are creating threads to not talk about the subject of the thread. Brilliant move Earl, you have surpassed even your usual levels

What is up with Udrih anyway? Just last year he was solid, wasn't he? I know it's only been a couple of games but he's so sloppy and out of control.

off topic

loweyecue - do you have anything Knicks basketball-related to add?

Beno Udrih could be a player who performs more effectively as a starter. Problem is, who moves to the bench?

I really hope that's the case. He didn't even play against Chicago I just remembered.

"Our defense is going to be ahead of our offense. We hold a team to 81 points and we don't come out of there with a win, it's kind of surprising. Because normally when we've done that in the past, we've been pretty good."

Words from the genius himself. What's surprising is how someone that doesn't even draw up a play with 5 seconds left to go down by 1 has a position as an nba coach.

Hopefully Woodson looks at this thread title. Don't even mention his name or limit his touches in close games. Draw some freakin' plays coach!

There's 4 other guys on offense.

Does Hardaway Jr. really have the rookie cred card to shoot and keep shooting?

Now the expectation is higher given the promise of this rookie year, the flat top, the flashy shoes, his game is not living up to the hype.
Maybe he is pressing too much, not letting the game come to him? Too much pressure to put up numbers as millions is at stake for his next contract?

This thread is not about Melo, and neither are out problems.

Hardaway Jr has a golden opportunity! Pablo is a nice player, seems like a good dude. Just not a starter!

Udrih is a better offensive player than Pablo, period. But his defense is terrible, and Pablo's is at least average. My only concrn with Beno on offense is that he seems to have issues handling the ball against pressure. I think he'll get ripped a couple times in the backcourt when he faces so me fullcourt pressure from a good defender.

This offense also has a lot of growing to do. Like that cut by Shump early in the first when Bargs had the ball vs Minny, the dude ran right in his path. Too many miscommunications on both ends, particularly offense. We kept our turnovers down last year because we kept it SIMPLE, which is fine for a while but doestn work come playoff time. Yeah, you wont turn it over 20 times if "he" is standing there with the ball for 12 seconds...Sorry I mentioned "him". I like the sets were running. But this team has more growing to do. Lots more potential here than last year. Let's get it done. we got tons of vets.

He is running plays. Look at the high post sets with Tyson which lead to handoffs, the pin downs for hardaway. the backdoor screens. Guys gota execute. Its better than MDA just running 99% high PnR
