When I first heard this, I just laughed..But being a guy who grew up in Brooklyn and played ball with my boys across Brooklyn, I can feel him...Being able to take the train, with the guys u balled with, to the Garden, to watch me play ball..WOW..Symbolic yes, but it kind of runs deep...We took the train everywhere...We took the train to pools in the Summer...To Coney Island...We took the train to the city to catch a movie on a Saturday night...We took the train to school...The train ran by the school pictured in the opening of Welcome Back Kotter, New Utrecht HS...The memories this video unearth almost brought a tear to my eye..The simple times...NYC kid comes home...

NBA Basketball is part of the entertainment industry. You gotta love MWP. He is a show by himself. And he also backs it up on the court.

He's my favorite new Knick for obvious reasons.

Not only what he brings to the team, but he's quite the character and personality.

And he's the local kid. A true homecoming.

New York

“Yeah, just like every other hard working New Yorker, right? You know how we do it. It was a focused ride, I had to get ready for the game. But it was cool. It was a first time for that. It was an experience, something I always thought I would do.”

“They were focused — New Yorkers want to get home. They don’t got time to be looking at people on a train. Heads down. Walkmen on. Get outta my way. You know New Yorkers.”

... “and it was a good win... We got the first preseason game out of the way. We got the first regular season game out of the way. We’ve got the excitement out and now we can get down to playing some basketball.”

It was a good win.

I like what Metta did and we all need to ask ourselves,

When is the last time YOU did something for the 1st time ?

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

gotta be a cool experience for him.

i like the fact that he did this.. i still refuse to call him meta world peace and you can call him crazy, but i like ron arest. his honesty in the world of sports is refreshing.

I love Artest. He should've been able to do this his rookie year. I love that he's a real New Yorker and he represents Queens. I'm glad we brought him home.

This is going to be fun, if he doesn't break down too early.

This what I am talking about. Metta will become a favorite on this team really really really quick.
