Aftre the last outing--I thought he had a chance--he grabbed 8 rebounds in 18 minutes and stuffed up the middle a little. I guess when it comes down to it we have Amare Martin Bargs and Anthony who can play 4 so I guess Diogu and Powell become expendable--I wont go into chris smith because that is/was a deal consummated a long time ago.

Aldrich just lucky, he was the only legit back-up center on the roster. Tyler was.....un-lucky due to injury.

I was kind of rooting for this kid...He didn't give us much on the offensive end but I don't think we needed it with the roster makeup..He is a live body around the basket, grabbing lose balls and rebounding...Powell was a shot blocker, so I like him as well...But this isn't a bad move...He is young and can rebound...Let's see how he develops...

Aldrich reminds me of Chris Dudley. A guy with crappy hands and no clue on offense. But he can rebound and plays physical. Would've been a solid signing in 1997.

really should give Jordan Henriquez a look with his length, athleticism, and shot blocking ability
Hopefully we give him a look and even Tyler back a look when he can play
I thought Diogu played very well but is a PF that we have many players at

It just is not worth it, not only because Chris Smith is not even D league material but because of the possible punishments/consequences...
For Chris Smith to make the team, if the NBA looks in to it and we lose draft picks and get penalized for an under table deal in order to keep JR Smith we could even lost JR Smith's contract like Twolves loss multiple draft picks and Joe Smith which hindered their ability to improve for a couple of years in KG's prime

I even really like Darko Milicic if he stayed in basketball shape and worked out in the summer, he is really under rated and can do a bit of everything, including a solid post game and facilitating/ passing for a big man in addition to his legit size, DEF/REB and shot blocking ability
He may never live up to his pick in that draft but he is still young and is a veteran with solid size and skills

James Johnson at SF/PF to depth to defend the Lebron, George, Gay, Tobias Harris, Iggy, Harden/Parsons, Battum etc
I like Iman and JR but they are just too small, they are SG's asked to defend many SF's and the SF/PF with G skills and shooting abilities, making it a very tough cover
Carmelo and MWP are both slow, with STRENGTH as their advantage, and have problems defending shooters and F's that could penetrate, especially if they could do both
And Melo should not be even asked to defend our opponents leading scorers

Wonder if Shawne Williams will get cut by the Lakers, I saw a game of him this year on the Lakers and he looks like he is back to NBA shape seeking another contract with Dantoni, if not I would gladly have him on our roster

Where is Stephen Jackson?
Wonder if he is seeking retirement or if he took Poppavich's hard criticism and cut to heart and dedicated the summer in to working himself in better shape to make up for his age
I thought he played Durant pretty tough 2 years ago and he was much better than MWP on Durant
He also has the ability to get hot and hit 3pt shots and can handle the ball a bit

I thought Cole was putting in the effort, but he looked like another player in a long line of big, white, stiffs, to play for NY. Hope he shows something in the regular season.

He can get 15 rebounds in 35 minutes. He showed a few double doubles with Houston last year--he just needs to concentrate on the offensive end.

I wouldn't say the dude is a stiff. He is a very skilled player and physical but he didn't show that here really. He has a body of work with his experience on other clubs that says he can play. Just weird that he didn't really get off here. We'll he had a shot now to really improve and be with us all year. Good luck to him.

I think Cole will be ok especially when they run the high pnr offense.

Nice to hear that Cole has put up solid numbers at times. Unfortunately I saw someone getting frequently boxed out in the paint. Looked a step slow to put himself in the right spot for a rebound. If he can get that problem solved, Cole could be a decent backup.

Definately weird. Maybe it's the new York on the chest.

He got rebounds against bums, non physical players. He did work against bums, the knicks are a very political franchise.

Aldrich had to make the team.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

As well as Diogu played, he wasn't what the Knicks needed. We were looking for deep backup in the event of a Chandler injury.

Aldrich didn't play particularly well - but I don't think we really need for major minutes in the first place. I think he's gone as soon as Tyler looks like he's ready to go.

And if we lose out on Tyler, I'd expect us to bring back Earl Barron.

I agree about Ike. I also read that because of his years in the league he costs the Knicks more both on the cap and in fines for being over the cap. That might not have been in reference to keeping Cole as he has been around a couple of years.

I thought it was the opposite? Like if a player is a vet of certain amount of years, the nba pays a big chunk of their salary- I thought the rule was in their as otherwise they'd be disadvantaged against younger players when battling for vet minimum deals.

Yu might be right. I am not sure but I did read that. I think it was in reference to keeping Toure and Chris.
