According to a report Tuesday from Jared Zwerling of Bleacher Report, the 18-year-old Wiggins, widely expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NBA Draft, will likely see an offer from Adidas for somewhere in the ballpark of $140 to $180 million. As Zwerling indicates, however, Nike is likely to match any offer he receives, which could drive the bidding war into the ballpark of $200 million:

“I’m hearing from people at Kansas that he’s got a $180 million offer supposedly coming from Adidas,” a source close to Wiggins’ inner circle said. “But I also heard that Nike is going to match anything.”

To put into context, NBA reigning MVP LeBron James came into the league after high school in 2003 and inked a seven-year, $93 million deal with Nike.

As far as speculation on Wiggins’ agency representation, Zwerling reported that several NBA agents believe that the Ontario native will go with Creative Artists Agency, who are partners with Jay Z’s recently launched Roc Nation Sports agency.

For now, however, Wiggins will be focusing on his upcoming season with the Jayhawks, a team outfitted by Adidas.

If the offer presents value, he can justify borrowing money for an insurance policy.

everyone knows damned well that if he went to Israel or Spain he'd get a decent amount of coin as a one year deal. Everyone knows this kid is special.

If I were his parents I'd tell him to sign with adidas and play a year of pro ball in Italy or Greece. Even if he only gets $5 million there, he gets that adidas comtract executed.
