YA BOY TIM THOMAS IS WIIIIIIIIIIILIN!!! HAHAHAHAHA this is crazy

By CHRIS SHERIDAN
.c The Associated Press

GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - Injured Knicks forward Tim Thomas ripped Nets forward Kenyon Martin as a phony tough guy and criticized his teammates, too, for failing to respond to the flagrant foul that sidelined him.

Thomas will not play in Game 3 Thursday night, when New Jersey will try to take a 3-0 lead over New York, but if he makes it back for Game 4, a confrontation is all but guaranteed.

``My goal is just to get back out there on the court before this series is over so I can go hit somebody. That's it. That's all I'm looking forward to,'' Thomas said Wednesday. ``What's been done to me is going to be done to them. It's very simple.''

Thomas' statements were his first public comments since he was fouled by Jason Collins in Game 1 while going up for a dunk. Thomas took a hard fall, bruising his back, hip and ankle.

Thomas said he has not yet seen a videotape of the foul, but he considered it dirty, with Collins never attempting to go for the ball as the Nets' center has claimed.

Thomas said he was more angry with Collins than with his teammates - but only because the rest of the Knicks still have a chance to retaliate.

``When I was laying on the floor I was expecting somebody to do something, to push, to shove, anybody. But it never happened,'' Thomas said. ``In that situation you have to respond. You have to, that's the bottom line.

``For it to go down that way and for nobody to really respond, I'm just waiting for somebody to do something.''

The Knicks were more physical in Game 2 than they were in Game 1, yet it was the Nets who continued to commit the hardest fouls. Richard Jefferson clobbered Stephon Marbury on a breakaway, and Kenyon Martin responded to an elbow from Dikembe Mutombo with a vicious swipe and shove that earned him a technical foul.

Thomas saved his most caustic comments for Martin, repeatedly calling him ``fugazy'' - a slang term for fake used in the mafia movie ``Donnie Brasco.''

``Just knowing his character, he's a fugazy guy. I read a comment that Jason Richardson said nobody wants to mess with a pit bull, but I've never seen a pit bull who picks and chooses who he wants to bite,'' Thomas said.

``He's fugazy as far as the whole tough guy role. You get techs and you get fines and that makes you tough? Because your game is wild and crazy, that makes you tough? When a scuffle breaks out, you have 13 guys that can protect you. When it's you and someone else, what happens then?

``Somebody call Don King and hook it up for us.''

Martin was not available to respond to Thomas' comments, which were made after the Nets had finished practice.

New Jersey has defeated New York in five of their six meetings this season, the only loss coming March 19 at Madison Square Garden, the site of Game 3, on a night when Jason Kidd was injured.

Kidd's only appearance at the Garden this season came Jan. 4 when he had 35 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds in a 95-85 victory.

``In the enemy's building, it's always hostile on the road. We understand that,'' Kidd said. ``I think the Garden brings the best out of everybody in the sense all the great games that have been played there, the history alone. It ranks up there with the Forum, the old Boston Garden. The big thing is the history when you walk into that building. You can feel the electricity.''

Thanks to Thomas' comments, they'll probably feel the tension, too.

I dont know what to think about this really...Its good to see someone on this team with any kind of balls, but at the same time, what good is all the talking when you wont even be on the court. Im sure Kenyon will have something to say about that by tomorrow.

The thing is, TT has every reason to be heated. Not only at the Nets, but his own teammates. Think about this: when Charlie Ward got bodyslammed by PJ Brown back in '97, not only did John Wallace, Oakley, and the rest of the guys on the court run over there, like HALF the bench including Ewing ran on the court. Granted the '97 team wasnt as bad-ass as the days of Mason and X-Man, but that was what the playoffs was about. Shoot, even our coach Van Gundy scrapped when necessary. I cant recall who was on the floor when TT got clotheslined, but its absolutely BS that no one did ANYTHING. I dont even think I saw people come over to help him! Is this an extension of the coach, I dont know...

On the other hand, TT might be writing a check his mouth cant cash. Hes not exactly known to be a tough guy, and K-Mart's gotta be one of the baddest motherf'ers in the league. Why K-Marts name is even being brought up at all is beyond me, this is all about that prick Jason Collins. "Somebody call Don King and hook it up for us." If thats what he wants, the only thing hes got goin for him is hes a Paterson guy so you never know what he could do to Kenyon on the low.

This series is getting out of hand quickly. Seems like the Knicks are more concerned with retaliation than winning, and the Nets know they can play even grimier and still win. Its a battle we cant win unless Richard Jefferson or Kenyon Martin is put on their back the next time they leave the ground. I liked how tough Sweetney was, and of course Deke always plays tough (although hes just about useless). But to be honest, when your leaders (Lenny, Houston) are soft how can you expect everyone to be different? Let that happen to Camby when Sprewell was on the team and see what happens. Collins has a black eye and Spree goes off for 40 in Game 2.

I might be as mad as TT at this point and Im sure Im not the only one. Im not for intentionally hurting players at all, but at the same time, you have to demand respect. The Knicks are not just playing for themselves, they are playing for their city and their fans. And a city which is known for its aggressiveness is watching their team get raped, and vicariously we feel violated in the process. We cant do nothing about it or feel any better until one of these guys makes an example of a Net player, or two, or three.

Heres to hoping Tim Thomas is back for Game 4...

I agree...I just want Tim To come back and straight up slap Kenyon Martin. I wish this was the 1994 Knicks cuz Starks would have did more than headbutt Jefferson by now. Oakley would have walked over to TJ Kidd and slapped the huggies off him. It would have been a fight for real.

As of right now...it's not about winnign the series cuz the Knicks have no chance as it is to beat anyone in the east let alone a team out west. The Knicks need to start something. What happened to Dirty Kurty? He only has stuff to say to the refs? He is the main one that should do something.

If Tim Thomas needs me to wait with him by the team bus I'll be right there with the whole Brooklyn.

The Nets are right up there with The Bulls, Indiana, and Miami right now.....It's not even about basketball right now

Exactly. And EnySpree, we will all wait for the Nets when they try and call Brooklyn, "home"! Its not about basketball anymore man. Its just not! Its about saving face. Its about losing without being spit on. Man I miss Oakley.

Right on Timmy! All so true! Martin is a punk who came into the league a scrawny kid and now looks like a Balco poster boy. J Kidd is the biggest phoney going and only signed with the Nets again because he knew he was just another good player out west. In the NBA least he can be the man. How many playoff series did he win with Phoenix? The answer is none when he was playing. They won one series when he was hurt and DNP. Kidd is a worm who went behind the scenes to get Byron Scott fired. As for their great defense as some posters to this site claim, please, they are ok at best defensively. Let's see how they handle a real defense like the Pistons.

Go check out Peter Vecsey's article in yesteday's NY Post about the Collins foul. I alluded to it in a post yesterday but it may have gotten lost in the shuffle. Basically it denounced the league from Stern to Stu Jackson for not suspending Collins who Vecsey said was definitely not going for the ball. Also, Collins has a history as a cheap shot artist with 4 other flagrant fouls this year. So maybe he just follows a coach's orders and doesn't let anyone dunk on him no matter what, but we sure as hell shouldn't be at a disadvantage and missing one of our best players due to their lack of constraint and judgment, not to mention sportsmanship.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

all talk. tough players keep their mouth shut and do it on the court. sorry but kmart makes everyone on the knicks look like his chump. he plays above everyones head and all he does is win games. tt hasnt done half of what kmart has done in this league in half the time. the knicks need to collectively shut up and show it in their actions. the only thing tt showed was his ignorance. a tough man will talk to his teammattes behind closed doors and let his play do his talking for him-- chumps are the ones who have to open their mouths to the media and public. lets see how tough you are tt and play tommorow night.

Unfortunately - if the Nets win in the Least and they will get clobbered 4X in the finals. Hopefully either Detroit or the Pacers will come out on top.

you're right, it only means something when they actually back it up on the court. but somebody had to say/do SOMETHING. at least this will get into kmart's mind... he'll have something to think about tonight! i hope this also lights a fire under the knicks players' a&&es... they better start doing something to set those jersey boys straight! I HATE KENYON MARTIN!!!

THis team has not made good on alot of its words.

Allen did promise playoffs, but the talking tough is trying to save face.

The nets are just running them out of the building, and short of flagrent fouls, they can't stop them.

Funny thing is, TT "traveled" prior to getting cut down, and the refs should have called it down there.

Yo, just f*cing kill somebody. That's the only thing that matters anymore. You can't let nobody punk you like that. Take a suspension, who cares, the ****ing league hates the Knicks. Just take somebody out, make another Kenny Anderson break Kidd's wrist.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Briggs well said.all Tim is doing is throwing gasoline into the fire,as much as i dislike kenyon, kidd and jefferson i'd have to admit they are beating us convincely. I dont mind if we body slam one of their players, but let just keep it to ourselves and then we act innocent like they did.

Know what I really really hate...
Ever since I started watching these Knicks since 91...
Come playoff time.. the anouncers are so biased against them...
You have Marv Albert screaming yes after every opponents shot and marginalizing any effort on the Knicks part.
I saw the last game on TNT and they were talking about how the head official in the NBA gave a call to that games' refs warning them to look out for the Knicks and their retaliations....
I could'nt believe my ears... Really upsetting to know that the officiating is skewed against you before the game even begins.

I want Jefferson or Martin to go up for a dunk and have SWEETNEY...
a man built like a locomotive...
just bang his body against one of them in mid air.. and have one of these jerks land on his head....
This next game.. Knick fans are screaming for Blood!
