those two games in jersy got me thinking about changing the starting five, here some options:
1)if tt and allan out:
c-nazr pf-kt sf-dermarr sg-penny pg-marb (we need a shooter)
+ 3 point shooting (dermarr) ballhanding(penny+marb)
- defence (dermarr)
c-vin pf-kt sf-penny sg-marb pg-fw (i like this one)
+ ballhandling (3 pg) inside scoring(vin) drives to the bucket(fw+marb)
- defence (vin but nets dont have a scoring center)
2)if just allan out:
c-vin pf-kt sf-tt sg-penny pg-marb (i like)
+ inside scoring(vin) post up (tt+penny) scorers(marb+penny+tt+vin)
- defence(vin)

*my take is that vin can bring us inside scoring given minutes, the nets dont have a scoring center so we dont need a defencive center, i belive vin can make the differnce in this series.
we also need a 3pt shooter beacause the nets are cheating with shandon out there, dermarr given a starter stutus can be more effective.
what do you guys think?

Like the lineup of Deke, KT, DerMarr, Penny, Marb. You spread the floor with shooting and still have Deke to clog the middle. When going with a smaller lineup go with Nazr, Vin/Kurt/Sweets, Penny, Marb, Frank.

Knicks just don't have the outside shooting to handle the Nets right now, that's why I like Marb at the 2.

i dont like deke in this series beacause he's not up to the tempo the nets are playing, unless we play some sort of zone he is not much help on defence the nets centers are very quick for his aging body.
his plus is that he plays hard and doesn't back down ,the others should learn from him.
we must make the nets work harder for buckets(make our own shots, fouling on easy bucket situations,no more dunks!!)
i remember the days were you couldn't get nothing under the knicks basket without geting hit(oakley, ewing, mason or lj)...those days are gone...

in these 2 games the best line up I have seen on the floor has been this one:
Frank, Marbury, Penny, Sweetney and Deke. 3 smart ball handlers, a hustle player and grandpa Deke.

I might be biased because I want to see more of Frank and Sweetney but I thought this group played the best together.

I think the tempo is a team problem, not a Deke problem. Marb, coach and the rest have to know that they will never beat the Nets is a run and gun game. Pull a page from the Houston Rockets playbook and set the tone of a 70s to 70s game. Deke will be more than effective that way.

I'd dream to see a starting lineup of Frank-Marbury-Dermarr-KT-Sweetney.
Stick FW on Kidd and Dermarr on RJ. Sweetney is capable of guarding Collins at the C. That way we can keep up with the Nets at the start PLUS we'd have Anderson, Nazr, and Penny off the bench.

Bottomline, we NEED to change something because it hasn't worked.

Ah well, why should Lenny change anything when he can just keep doing what he's doing, and pretend that it works!

At first I was laughing when I read this post, but I kinda agree with it. Better than going with the same rotation we have had.

this is the starting lineup we need for game 3...

Mutt Kurt Nazir
Baker Sweets Nazir
Penny DeMar
Marbury DeMar Penny
Frank Marbury Penny

Like was said earlier we need 3 good ball handlers to start the game with Baker as a starter... why?
Give the ball early in the game to Baker in the post against Martin and try to get him in some early foul trouble. Set up Kurt with his mini-J's all night which will draw Collins away from the middle and having Martin in the middle more often than Collins will also help draw fouls on Martin. Have Sweets and Nazir give HARD FOULS against MARTIN, frustrate him, make him get more physical, Martin lacks mental stability. Last night we shoulda been going for Martin not Collins, we have to do the unexpected, element of surprise.

At the 1,2,3 you can pretty much play any combination, and sit out Anderson, his pros don't outweigh his cons. Having such a young and new team with bad chemistry it definitely wouldn't hurt having 3 experienced ballhandlers out there at once like someone said. So whoever gets double teamed can just dish it off and that person can then set up the other 2 and vice versa. We should always have 2 of the 3 get the ball with the other one waiting at half court, half court game all night, slow down the damn pace.
Pick and roll with Kurt and any one of the ballhandlers all night, Baker set-up for the post all night, Mutt in the middle and the 3 ballhandlers running circles around the Nets and Nazir and Sweets with the putbacks and dirt, forgot... and Demar to give breathers to 2 and 3.

At this point, I'm ready to put Kurt Thomas back at center, but have him guard K-Mart. He did a really nice job on the defensive end last night, and generally played better defensively and offensively at center the past couple of years. I know he's undersized, but that is not going to hurt us against a team like the Nets which trots on Jason Collins and Aaron Williams at center.

So my lineup would look like...

C- Thomas
PF- Sweetney
SF- T. Thomas
SG- Penny
PG- Marbury

That's probably the best lineup we could trot out there, offensively and defensively. We'd have to worry about Kidd unless we finally put Marbury one on one vs. him. Penny is too slow to guard kid at this point in his career. Hopefully Tim Thomas can come back so we can stop playing Shandon.

Thats pretty good lineup but the Nets would start with Collins and quickly counter with Rogers in place for Collins and thats pretty much nullifies anything the Knicks do. Rodney has been killing KT with his perimeter game becasue KT doesn't want to come out and guard him. He hit two threes because Kurt just didn't bother getting out on him.

I think your looking at next year's starting line up with the exception of SG, because I think Houston does come back and play there. I am 100% convinced that Nazr is going to Utah for one of their #1's, or even to Cha for a #1 (not theirs) in some kind of deal involving them taking on another team's player and getting a pick for the cap space they create.

Then Isiah using the #1 to draft a HS kid like Swift or JR Smith.

what do you think about vin?
he has some moves in the post(maybe sweetney has in the roster), he is a better ofensive player(than nazr/deke)
he taller than any nj pf/center.
he has been there before knows how to be a dominate nba player.
we need points on the board!
in my opinion he just need a bigger role to perform....just like penny and sweetney need to be in the game 20 minutes minimum.
penny was great by the way in game 2!(as a starter)

disagree. What we need is DEFENSE, not offense. It is crystal clear that we can't match the Nets' offensive game so our only choice is to try and outdefend them. Unfortunately, these Knicks don't know how to play defense either.
