I found this forum last week and I gotta say Good Job to the moderators. What an excellent way to sound off on the pleasures and current displeasures of being a diehard Knicks fan. I've been browsing around the forums and I see that I'm not alone.

Let me start by saying that this team sucks. We all thought that firing layden was the start of a brand new future for this team. As of early Saturday evening we now know that in the big picture, the Knicks are not much better off than they were before the flurry of trades. Forget about the current misfortunes - The future of this team is not bright. This is a Layden induced hangover that could last for quite some time.
Does anyone remember why Grunfeld got fired in the first place? It's simple - because Checketts felt there was no excuse for the Knicks to be the 8th seed in '99. He fired the guy that put together the teams of the 90's that we will always love for everything they brought to the court each and every night- win or lose. I'm talking about everyone from Derek Harper to Spree. X-Man to Starks. These were the knicks that would retaliate on the NEXT PLAY, nevermind talking about doing it in the next game.
If Checketts never made such a hasty decision, (before the playoffs - when the 8th seeded knicks went to the finals), the team would not be in such despair. Most of all - you better believe that Ernie would have drafted Artest over Fred "I got Jumped over" Weis. Houston wouldn't have gotten such an insane amount of money, Chris Dudley would not have got a 28 million dollar contract. And we would have gotten more than an aged Glen Rice for Ewing.

I DO have faith in Isaiah - but the squad that we currently root for has no future.
Marbury is still a question mark as a championship caliber player and he just finished his 8th pro season.
If Houston's knees aren't 100% - then he is basically rendered useless as his jumpshot and his ability to create shots are the extent his game.
Kurt Thomas is way too inconsistent.
Penny is an entire decade removed from his most productive season.
It's all but evident that Tim Thomas is not going to be the superstar he was touted to be.
Shandon...
Dikembe...
Vin Baker…

On the bright side - there's Big Mike Sweetney and his knack for rebounding... when given the minutes.
Frank Williams has rebounded from a dismal rookie season and proved that he actually can play on an NBA team.
I want to see more out of Dermarr Johnson, before I can make an assessment.

Basically - I'm just pissed. My tickets in section 425 cost $3400/year, and the price consistently goes up. I'm not mad at Isaiah, nor am I mad at Chaney or Wilkens. I just want to be able to say that I'm proud of the team I root for -win or lose. And that hasn't even been a possibility since the morning Van Gundy broke our hearts.

This squad has no future, but i've faith in IT to shred it into pieces to build something new. We've to be a lil patient now.
He came, made some trades, but without a full season (draft, training camp, trades...), we won't be able to fairly judge him.

btw welcome aboard. This forum is a cool place with nice knowladgeable fans. Yet, there are a few rules to know :

#1 : you do not talk about this forum (sorry, I just couldn't resist)
#2 : you do not answer to playa's posts. He usually searchs for friends, and if he believes you're one of them, you're f...ed
#3 : don't think briggs always posts the same comments. In fact, with an appropriate electron microscope, you'll be able to notice slight differences here and there. There are also some distortions in some of his posts when arrive draft time, cause you'll find a new superstar in the making everyday.
#4 : andrew and martin like compliments, so do never hesitate to tell them how their forum is great and how their posts are clever
#5 : every year you have to enter the bigmac fatspoon concest, in which you'll have to eat the biggest possible amount of burgers in order to be recognized as the fatspoon of the year. Fishmike is a king of that game, so you'll soon notice how other posters respect him for that.

other than that, this place is great !

GO KNICKS !

what seats in 425 are you? I used to buy 10-15 of them a year from a guy I met on EBay. Eventually he would just call me before the season and ask me what I wanted.

I think your going to see a two-fold plan here with Isiah. He got Marbury and TT to fill some seats and make sure the Knicks get to the playoffs every year. Plan B is to build a team like he had with the Pacers. A bunch of young athletic tough guys... his type of players.

we've got tradable assets. At least a few expiring contracts. That could be useful soon.

For the rest, I'd love to see him build a team like the pacers.

Section 425 row A seats 1 & 2. My brother and I share them and we have vowed to NEVER move out of the 400's. They are the best seats in the house if you are a die-hard.

no I know they are 425 is right near midcourt and so long as you are in the first row or so up there your looking right down on the action, rather than way out at it.

I have say everywhere (including courtside) for a Knicks game at least once and after a few years I decided 425 was easily the best bang for the buck. You have all 41 games?

Hell yeah! season tix - I was on the waiting list since '91. This was our third season. Now I have the misfortune of going to the next 2 games. It really puts a pit in my stomach to wait all this time, and you can't help but wonder how much can home court mean for the knicks in this series? It's tough but - hopefully we can get a few WIFEBEATER chants going.

For my money, the 400s are absolutely the best ticket in town. And I once was able to sit behind the Pacers bench during a game. Awesome view (especially first row, I sat first row in the 400s for Yao's first game at MSG), awesome fans, and cheaper than the average MSG ticket.

Welcome aboard.
