From the NYPost...

Marcus Camby says he expects to return to practice tomorrow for his first full session. He's still holding out some hope he can suit up for his first game - versus Chicago on Saturday.

Sounds pretty good to me. I'm not sure if we'll need him for that game, but with this team you never know. Hopefully he'll at least be able to return in time for our back-to-back games against Atlanta.

The articles today mentioned that he is still playing hurt. I hope we don't have the Glen Rice syndrome going on - playing hurt but not practicing, play hurt a couple of game and then taking a few games off, etc. That would not be effective for the team.

That is a good point, Martin. But, hopefully, we won't see the G-Rice situation again - at least Camby has had a 13-game rest.
We suck.

This thing takes months to heal. Camby is going to pull a Glen Rice. The man is playing injured.

now that hes back he better not get hurt again after one game and sit out another 2 months. yes this is a bad injury but sooner or later hes got to suck it up and play. Now we need him alot with spoon out, i think hes goin to help alot on defense and help us run the break. him anderson, spree, eisley and harrington should be a good team to run the break with if we rebound.

Camby's game is so radically different from Glen Rice's that he couldn't possibly go through the same scenario. That injury takes a long time to heal and Camby will be touch and go for a while, but if he doesn't have a set back he will be able to keep going through the discomfort. It is gonna hurt but it should allow him to perform. If Glen Rice had sat out for a month or so, Knicks would have had him at more than 3/4 speed the rest of the way.

Sitting out wouldn't have gone over well with Jeff "Macho-Man" Van Gundy.

Here is hoping that Camby's foot will let him play.

The one big factor is, unlike Glen Rice, the doctors and everyone else were aware of Camby's injury soon enough and got at it the best they could. As long as they have it under control, he should be just fine.

Thank god...Marcus is finally BACK!!!

Marcus played well last night... grabbing rebounds, running the floor, diving on the floor for loose rebounds. His energy was good and his presence made an impact. I remember the preseason game he tried to play and there was a noticeable difference: there was no limp and he seemed to move around the court fairly fluidly. It was nice to have at least on shot blocker out there; opponents were a little more hesitant to go to the hole.

Did anyone think that Marcus actually looked a little less buff than he had during the preseason?

Any other observations?

I was thinking that yesterday. Marcus looks like he lost all of his "gains" from weightlifting. He looked like a beanpole again.

I also wondered where all that added muscle had gone to.

I thought the same thing - him loosing his added "muscle". At least I know I'm not the only one who noticed the difference. I'm sure he didn't do a lot of lifting while nursing his foot injury - probably none at all from the looks of it.
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.
