Question Would you trade Omer Asik for Chandler and a 1st round of thiers? Would Houston do this deal or is it a good deal?

Omer Asik last year was doing 11 reb and 10-11 points a game last year. If Houston got Chandler for security for Howard in case he has back problems. Omer Asik asked to be traded this summer and if they don't trade him they loss him. So would he be a good fit for the knicks? He did ok in the playoffs. If we could get something else from Houston this might work if he is good enough to play in the east.

I would consider it. But the problem is what Asik's value would be in Woodson's system. In Houston or in a D'Antoni-like system, Asik looks like a star. Not sure what he'd be here.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Chandler's value is the lowest it's been a few years. You probably won't get much for him. I doubt Houston would do a straight up exchange.
Chandler doesn't really fit with Dwight anyway, and they're definitely going to want more than just a backup in exchange for Asik

I'd do it, but Houston wouldn't. If things go wrong in Portland they might do Shump and Tyson for Aldridge- that's the kind of move Dolan would go for.

Contracts don't match. You would have to be creative. You would need Lin's contract as well to match up. It ain't happening.

Houston would not do this deal. The question would be IMO, would you trade Tyson and a 1st for Asik, Lin and a 2nd (or a throw in)?

Hell no! Let them suffer with that 15 million 3rd year. Houston is built to win now and if they don't within 2 years the team get blown up. Or Dwight will want to be traded and have the coach fired.

Yeah, I wouldn't go that far. He was voted into the AS game and all defensive team.

I'm not disagreeing. Given their ages alone, you'd have to take Omer.

i WOULD taKE OMER, ALTHOUGH he has fumble fingers at times, he is relentless on the boards and not a bad defender.....

Is Tyson a good, bad or average rebounder? I used to think good, but for some reason now I think of him as being a poor rebounder. I'm not sure that's even fair as he put up some monster numbers at times last season. I don't know, the playoffs left such a bad taste in everyones mouth, I'm not sure we evaluate Tyson fairly. I'm still narked with him, but hopefully this season is more like his first with us.

I disagree. Chandler was an all-star last season and everyone in the league knows he struggled after the all-star break last season because he was playing thru injuries. He is still the same player who is a game-changing presence when healthy, and only has 2 years remaining on his contract, which is likely his last big contract. A team looking to get over the hump would absolutely trade for him with only 2 years left. I don't see how any GM who think any less of him.

That being said, i don't see why Houston would do this, unless it is a 3-way trade. If they trade Asik i would think it would be to address a need, not replicate what they already have.

Tyson shouldn't have been an All Star last season nor should he have been anywhere close to any of the defensive teams.

Noah, Howard, Garnett, Duncan, Hibbert were all better defenders at the big man position.

He is the only big man in the NBA that doesn't have one move that he can go to. He rarely ever scores if there isn't a wide open putback or a lob pass. He has gotten sick the last two years in the playoffs, which is a problem if you're playing big money for a guy that can't perform when it counts.

Of course he should have been an all-star. He was possibly the most important player on a team that was 2nd best in the east. He was a major reason for the success. Yes most of those guys belong as well, but many of these awards are based on reputation and team success, which Chandler has.

Yeah but the Rockets wouldn't. Can't imagine another 'leader' playing as poorly as he did and then coming out and trashing his teammates.

Good interview with Tyson over on msg.com- said he was worse physically during the playoffs than he let on. I don't like the way he called out everyone but himself back then, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He had a neck/back injury, was out of bball shape and had lost a lot of weight- let's see how Hibbert fairs against him at full strength. He's up to 253lbs, about 10 more than he was at the start of last season.

Really hope he has a better season this year.

He said he put 10 lbs back on? I think it's easy to look out of it and like you don't care if you've been sick and lost a lot of weight. If Tyson can get back to how he was a year ago (or even early last year), I'd still take him over Asik.
