On days like yesterday, we're forcibly dunked into Dolan's world to recall the politics governing the basketball. We're reminded that we're fools to be emotionally invested in a petulant billionaire's plaything. I loathe the politics, and I'm not even convinced these are such sound politics. From the firing to the hiring to the timing of the whole thing, this smells like **** to me.

But whatever. Most of the time, it's basketball, and the basketball lately has been increasingly fruitful and quite a lot of fun - to the point that you can almost ignore the politics. Once events like Thursday's settle, we can return to our foolishness. It's fine. It's more fun above the surface.

Questionable as (Grunwald's) move's timing may have been, it allows us little time to dwell. Basketball is very nearly here, and we're looking at a team that's both bound for a winning season and restocked with wonderful characters. (Ron Artest/ Metta World Peace) is on our team now:

- Seth Rosesnthal

Raymond Felton, Pablo and Beno give us our best depth at lead guard in a long time.

Whatever Tim Hardaway Jr brings is a plus

Andrea Bargnani has an opportunity for a fresh start in New York

We are younger and taller.

The Answerman Cometh ...wait, that doesn't sound right...

A year ago, we were trying to enjoy the reality of an insanely old team, that was going to break down waiting for something happy to emerge from Stat or Shump.

This season, after making it to the second round, we are surrounded by RoseDust, Nyetnoise and our normally idiotic owner getting backpage splooge anyway he can.

Welcome to New York, skyscrapers, and everything

The way the football Giants are performing, Knicks basketball cannot get here soon enough.

For the first time in many years, Madison Square Garden could have more feel good vibes than the Meadowlands in October and November.

Skinny Ray Felton?

Hit the open man.

Papabear Says

The problem that I have with what Dolan did is that he did it after Grunwald made all the deals. Now with Mills incharged he will want to put his brand on the team so maybe we will have some trades. I remember how the team was when Mills was here before. I know one thing if Dolan think he can ass around if he wants to and the new generation of fans will be going to Brooklyn if Dolan keep playing games.

Yeah and aside from Mariano's fairwell and the opportunity to watch him play in the outfield, baseball in NY has been done for about ten days.

The politics are amusing and the bottom line is always on the court.

Steienbrenner was a clown owner for a long time. Winning helps no doubt. The Billy Martin revolving door was absurd, his rants and tirades after team lost, his feud with Reggie Jax was epic, and his critical comments on players he overpaid were his to make.

He apologized to the fans and he demanded excellence which endeared him to the fans. Dolan is the Wizard of Oz. He hides. He does not appear to take responsibility for his decisions and instead likes to blame others.

Its his team and he can do what he wants. Nobody puts a gun to our head and makes us root for the team. Most of us here have no financial stake or are season ticket owners.

If Isola is correct that he is wigging out about the Nets Nalods assessment for the last few years have been correct that getting melo and everything with it was in fear of the russian. The Russian made a great move into brooklyn and encroaching on knick turf.

The Steinbrenner lesson was learned when the Core-Four carried that team to greatness and sustained excellence. Jeter and Rivaria played together 21 years. There are many ways to do things but "Building something" should be the goal, not reaction to outside stimulus.

Nalod - The Answer Man has been a tireless advocate for Bill Bradley as owner of the New York Knicks with Spike Lee and Woody Allen as minority owners. That, unfortunately, is a fantasy and everyone knows The Answer Man deals in reality.

With that said, the instant Jeremy Tyler heals... Things get real.

Mike Woodson has a nice blend of experience and yoots. Play defense.

First he will need to defend himself.
Not sure he will last long into the season.
And may be its for better.
When fruit getting spoiled faster its better.
Easier for the tree.

Got an owner with deep pockets but wastes the capital on ignorance. A new owner might be straddled with debt and not dig to spend.

Nalod got a choice, hate or go with whats on the court. I choose the games. Go in somber, lower the ceiling and enjoy whats left. Team makes a run, its a present! Last year was fun. Its why Im here, to have fun.

Looking forward to the season. See what comes about, see if the utes of NOLA make progress, can Charlotte be "good", do the Wiz come of age, is cleveland really that talanted? Can the Heat make another run, Is Indy for real with Granger? Spurs got anything left in the tank, Is Nash going to go with his Jerry West retro hair again?, whats Kobe got left?, Amare? Bargnanianinini? Gallo return? Clipps for real with Doc? and does the nets play up to whats on paper?

More to life than Dolan and the knicks!

I think an early test as to how well we'll do this season is how we defend against elite point guards. If we can prevent point guards from having career nights against us that is a good sign.
