NEW YORK, August 6, 2013 – New York Knickerbockers Executive Vice President and General Manager Glen Grunwald announced today that the team has signed free agent forward Jeremy Tyler. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Tyler, 6-10, 260-pounds, holds career averages of 3.6 points and 2.5 rebounds over 10.1 minutes in 63 games (23 starts) over two seasons with Golden State and Atlanta. He appeared in 21 games with the Warriors and Hawks last season, recording 22 total points and 20 rebounds over 68 minutes, before finishing the season with Santa Cruz of the NBA D-League.

The San Diego, CA native averaged 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds over 17.6 minutes in five games for New York’s entry in the 2013 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, NV. He was originally selected by Charlotte in the second round (39th overall) of the 2011 NBA Draft before having his draft rights traded to Golden State. Tyler left San Diego HS, following his junior season, to play internationally with Maccabi Haifa (Israel) and Tokyo Apache (Japan) for two seasons, before becoming draft eligible.

Congrats to Jeremy Tyler for signing with the #Knicks. I am very excited for this move since he has a 7'5" wingspan.

Knicks have two rookies and a 22 year old signed. Nice job addressing the need to get youthier.

It probably means the Knicks aren't signing Murry unless he is working out against Bobby Brown.

Offseason additions so far, Tyler, Hardaway, Leslie, Bargs, Metta. Not bad for a team capped out.

I'm sorry but I don't understand why the Knicks didn't go after a veteran. This is another bad signing.

Jeremy Tyler’s contract with the New York Knicks will be a partially guaranteed deal signifying the organization’s commitment for him to be part of the short- and long-term future, a league source told RealGM.

Tyler, the No. 39 pick in the 2011 NBA draft, has averaged 3.6 points and 2.5 rebounds over 63 games with the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks. At 6-foot-10, Tyler provides depth to a Knicks frontcourt that dealt with injury issues a season ago.

Tyler, 22, averaged 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds for the Knicks in summer league, showing an elevated fitness and firm moves inside.

Solid pickup in my opinion. Knicks get a springy, developmental center, that can provide spot minutes here and there. Who knows, maybe he can pan out into something better. He's only 22.

Hopefully K-Mart rubs off on him more than Chandler defensively, and maybe he can learn to hit that outside J consistently.

Awesome. Very happy with this. I was very impressed with him in the SL. I remember his ceiling was super high in Golden State.

On a seperate note I prefer Toure over Brown though. Brown is a 28 yr. Old retread who may perform here but he is kinda what you see is what you get. Toure has some developmental value. Having a young guy at PG, wing, and F/C would be a good start in building something long term.

Glad its a 2 year deal. If it works out well we will have his early bird rights.

I think we have 2 spots left. We might be able to get both and see who does better.

6'10 with feeling

Absolutely on point. Tyler brings yoot and bounce. At 22, his winding path has brought him to the brightest stage in the world. Given the fragile nature of Amare Stoudemire, Jeremy will get some early burn.

Add Beno Uhrih and the Pine Brothers have a leader

If Beno signs then this has been a very good offseason.

The best part of this offseason is we now have some youth we can develop. I wonder who is going to be the player the fans chant for during blowouts.

This kid has tremendous upside. I was shocked at his quickness and agility away from the basket. His midrange jumper is already there. He just needs to learn not to make himself small under the basket. He has a tendency to bend over and put the ball really low. Some work with a big man coach should help him to break this bad habit. Other than that I love his energy.

I know they've invited Murry to Camp so maybe he can latch on too. I haven't seen any Combo guards with his defensive ability. Plus he can score as well. We need 2 way players like Murry. He's more PG than SG which is something we need. In fact he has more court vision than Felton. Murry just needs to work on his PnR game.
