Can't stop him from knocking down the jump shot, he will be fine just like JR Smith.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I agree but it is a bad break for a guy trying to crack the rotation on a new team. Stephenson, Watson, Mahini, Scola, Hill and Cope are going to vying for minutes on the second unit.

I'm glad he got paid. All surgeries are serious but 6 to 8 weeks doesn't sound that bad. I'm assuming that means no working out for the next 6 to 8 weeks of the off-season, not that he'll actually miss the first 6 to 8 weeks of the season.

Yea doesn't sound serious like JR but like JR he will be behind the 8ball. Maybe Knicks draft Hardaway knowing that JR wasn't going to be 100% for the start of the season

i have never heard a team draft a player cause someone else was maybe kinda sorta hurt. Doesn't make sense. You draft a kid cause of upside or potential, etc.

Cool, so all the media will start blasting the Pacers decision to sign him, just like they made out signing JR was a HUGE mistake because he had surgery (aparantly the first time that has happened in the history of the nba!). Cope must have hidden this from the Pacers, blah, blah, blah...

I don't think JR hid the injury from the Knicks. I think they knew but were waiting for it to get better on its own. But only the Knicks would sign a guy KNOWING his knee is messed up. Wouldn't be the first time. Mcdyess and Amare

sounds to me like you are just throwing stuff out there to see if it sticks.

No doubt there are teams and GMs that don't put too much effort into what they are doing with draft picks but I would guess that a vast majority spend dollars and resources scouting, traveling, holding tryouts, going to games, working out players, etc before they select them. Team composition does matter. Player upside matters.

Maybe a GM likes to have 5 PGs on his roster, but those are whacky types that get fired.

I can see a scenario whereby the Knicks thought that JR priced himself out of the $6M range the Knicks could offer and wanted to draft a G/SF if - and this is the key - IF that player also had all of the upside and potential to make the team.

Recall that late first round picks are essentially guaranteed $3M over 3 years (and that doesn't consider the time and effort cost to have that player around or the upside potential if that player turns out to be Rondo or Tony Parker). That's a lot of dough to just throw away on a whim-like decision, even for MSG.

Yea that makes sense. I remember Berman saying the Knicks were looking for the player they thought was most NBA ready. We shall see. Doesn't mean he is going to play big minutes year one but if JR can't go or Shumpert is traded he can step right in and contribute. I still think the need for a young change of pace pg thromps all that tho. Hopefully bobby brown is that guy if we miss out on Udrih

Where is the outcry of what a horrible signing this is because they gave him a deal and then he needed surgery? Or about how ling the surgery was putoff? You know, everything Isola and everyone else was bitching about with JR?

This is NOTHING like McDyess. Dyce BROKE his knee...much, much worse injury. Not like JR is going to go up for a rebound and RESHATTER it like Dyce did.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt
