Solid acquisition. They're a well run organization.

They gave up Plumlee and a first rounder. Nice trade for the Suns as well. Discussed in free agent thread

It's a good pick up. Indy going offense over D this summer it seems. Scola is getting up there but he is still pretty good.

Hmmm. I don't know much about Plumlee.
Indiana is clearly trying to win now and I think Scola will help. You're probably right that this is a good trade for both teams.

And as for the Pacers, paying such a steep price for Scola makes their Copeland signing look strange, in hindsight. But they're deep.

It's absolutely great for the Suns- essentially 2 1st rounders for a player they picked up off amnesty waivers and were paying about $1mil per year for! One of my great regrets over Lin isn't not re-signing him, but not being able to get anything back for him.

I still think they signed Cope to play back up SF with the intention of moving Granger ASAP.

Still, with Granger, Cope and Scola coming in, that's a big step back defensively.

Why would it seem strange ? Pacers are a good and astute organization, they knew what a plus Copeland was to the knicks, so they made sure NY would not have him to help beat them so they picked him up for cheap. I bet all the Pacers front court is relieved they won't have to defend Copeland in live games , but only in practice. Larry Bird is trying to win.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

In regards to your last sentence, did you notice the only player left from the year Walsh was in charge is Mahini?

An upgrade over Hansbrough, but they gave up a lot for him in my eyes. Pacers are deep for sure. Not sure if signing Copeland was also just a way for them to play keep away too.

Seems similar to our Bargnani deal with all that yoot exchanged for an offensively skilled PF with below average defense. And people are lauding the Pacers move, but not ours. Bargs and Scola aren't super different, with Scola having a small edge on Bargs. Bargs has better range, Scola better post play and rebounding, but other than that I think they'll probably have a similar output this season. And we didn't give up 2 1st RD picks in our deal.

Scola is older and has had recurring knee problems. The pacers wanted to move greens contract. Plumlee and a first rounder to do it was a nice grab by the suns.

I still believe they are planning to move Grainger. i would of thought a small market team would of jumped at Grainger by now. I guess the Pacers asking price hasnt been reasonable. They are probably trying to get number 1 option assets back which isnt happening.

If the Knicks did this trade they would be crushed on this board 100% guaranteed . Essentially 2 firsts for an amnestied player with bad knees.
