5.) mark Jackson ( 1st stint)- love the ****iness and he was a great point guard. I agreed with him that he would have given pat his championship ring if he wasn't trading. the best point guard I have seen on the knicks ( remember, I am an 80's kid so I didn't get to see the frazier/Monroe tandem)
4.) john starks- he has been criticized throughout his career but how inspiring was his story! coming from bagging groceries at safeway to being an all star shooting guard on the knicks and being among the best sg's at the time. love his heart and tenacity! emobodies what 90's knicks were all about.
3.) Carmelo Anthony- polarized on this board but he is probably the one player that everytime he touches the ball you have to watch to see what he does. he is amazing offensively and the most versatile scorer we had since king. helped resurrect this franchise and give it a fighting chance to compete for a title no matter what roster is put forth.
2.) allan Houston- I am going to hear crap for this but I am a HUGE Houston fan and think he gets a bad rap because of the contract that dolan forked over. still, he was one of the best shooters in ny history and hit HUGE shots for us. he was more than one dimensional as he has scored in a variety of ways and also was underrated with his bbiq. usually made the smart plays to coincide with sprewell's unpredictable play.
1.) Patrick ewing- I will say it for anyone to hear. he is the most underrated center and player in history. only because he took some of the weakest rosters and made them contenders. sure, you can say that about the dream when he won his first title. but it irks me to no end why the admiral gets the prestige and accolades because he won a title when always had a great supporting cast. ewing is a warrior, plain and simple. he was an outstanding center who did it all. he became a much better player than predicted, especially offensively and he never quit. I hope he does get a ring being part of a great coaching staff but he should have gotten one in his playing days.
