Then says...

Look you can't say ..."We need to add some depth to our bench" and that you're "waiting on players to be waived by other teams".....

Then you're not comfortable with the roster. You're also talking about looking to add a 3rd point guard but you're going to leave a roster spot open from a possible SL addition, in the meantime experiment with Shumpert at point guard? Once again an admission you're not comfortable with the roster.

Also from the news I've been reading this morning, sounds like the reason we had lack of interest in Copeland due to his relationship with Woodson. As much as a tunnel vision player Copeland was, Woodson is really starting to rub my the wrong way. He's on record saying this off-season thus far we only lost 1 rotational player in Novak, no mention of Copeland. Although when you look at their total minutes played last year...

Minutes Per Game Regular Season

15.4min to 20.3min in favor of Novak by a whopping 5min

Minutes Per Game Post Season

10.3min to 5.6min in favor of Copeland

Where's the gif of Woodson yelling at Novak during a timeout telling him he's so f'n tired of him? Anybody have that?

he says he is pretty comfortable and wants to add more depth but also maintain roster spots in case someone gets cut. What's the big deal?

Sounds like he's winging it to me. I've never known a contending team having stability, putting teams together in the manner Grunwald is trying to do. Players are signing on other teams for vet min salaries, yet you're waiting counting on the waiver?

If that's the case why didn't he simply wait until this period of time passed before pulling the trigger on the Bargs trade? He knows when these cycles present themselves.

The cold hard truth.... there is very little interests on the market players signing with our team. Therefore he's wishing on a star someone worthwhile gets waived and they can find another case of Novak/Jeremy Lin...who won't remain on the team, long if signed going by our current trends.

Show me Grunwald's stability in the current plan whatever that is.

Come on 3G4G you keep starting threads about nothing and trying to make big deals about trivial stuff.

It's the middle of summertime and Melo hasn't bricked a shot in awhile, leave 3G4G alone!

Sounds like you crying for nothing. We're under a new collective bargaining agreement. New rules.

Everyone knows A'mare contract us killing us. He can't be traded this season. Tyson is also killing us.

So yes the knicks have to wait and see what free agents fall to free agency and yes they have to search Europe and summer league for help.

Seems like our GM is covering all bases. He's doing his job.

reminds me of the half the threads around here where guys are crying because some trade happened and the Knicks werent able to get involved to get extra picks, some player they had no shot at or some deal that Marc Berman said could happen.

He seems to like low IQ guys, makes himself feel superior.

I guess he sees the talent of JR, which is undeniable, but so is the low IQ. Though, JR really turned a corner last year and hope he continues.

Regarding the OP, I think wanting a deeper bench (or a bench) and being happy with the starters is ok to say. I hope we do get some cheap talent with waived players.
Have to say, the new CBA seems sucky so far. So many players getting waived that otherwise wouldn't. This doesn't seem to be a long term plan for success.

I am puzzled he's not able to get guys to sign here vet minimum deals, who are doing that elsewhere. He wants a roster 13 with 2 spots left open to pick off from the fray. Look it's not like Woodson is a big rotation guy anyway, and he's most certainly not going to give a ton of clock to a waiver guy, so pursue aggressively the players who your coach would most likely play or has a chance to crack the rotation.

Remind me how and when we signed Lin and Novak? Oh that's right, we got them when they were cut by other teams. But you're saying this is a bad thing to do?

Of course he's comfortable. There's nothing he can do about it.

Yeah and they almost rotted until the team faced major injuries and D'Antoni had no choice to play them. It wasn't Woodson who decided to play them, he was just the assistant and remember supposedly it was Mother Melo who encouraged the staff(coach) to give Lin some clock.

Notice we didn't pick up any waiver wire guys of significance last yr.... because it's rare this works in such favor of a team. Not saying it's a bad thing to do. I'm saying what GM isn't waiting to see what happens on the waiver wire? What makes Grunny uniquely different from them? Any GM can do that and does.

Oh and btw can you tell me where Lin and Novak are today?
