As we continue to seek out bargain basement talents to improve our team and given Grunwald's lack of success, I'm left to wonder if that is a legitimate question to pose. Thinking about the way free agency has played out thus far, then projecting... Is it fair to assume that top tier free agents will join the fold IN 2015 when we have ALL this cash?

I might be totally off base here, an overracting Knicks fan... but it's hard to NOT feel like the "jilted lover" when seeing other free agent targets sign elsewhere for monies comparable to what NYK can offer! I think most can deal with agents driving up their clients market value.. conversation takes place.. and suddenly the question becomes "Where them dollars at?"; Followed by a quick show me the money and you are flat broke!!! You lose a player like that to a bidding war, you overstand it's the nature of business. However, in my opinion.. we are being burned by players simply because they SEEMINGLY DO NOT WISH TO PLAY HERE! I gotta admit, Grunwald appears to be making calls.. I mean, he see's something he likes.. and tries to get it.. PROBLEM IS, the attraction has to be mutual!!! Grunwald either has a problem closing.. or he isn't active enough in this current free agent market. (Still players out'chea that can help by the way) But you gotta, make em feel loved.. use tact. It's all sales!!! Identify the gaps, and show them how NYK can satisfy a need! Being ascertive will certainly help this situation. Law of averages! Grunwald needs to be a better.. more proactive flirt; If she smiles when you wink, she's yours... THEN talk that good talk and close.. you might end up with more than one (Pimp'n Pimp'n LOL)

Which leads me to 2015... Stating the obvious about Grunwald, be clear he has done a pretty good job here as GM but something seems to be missing with him, IMO. Is it an absolute, that with cash in hand.. money to spend NYK can field the best target in the market that year. I think we know, that certainly isn't a certainty. We've seen it before, Targeted Lebron ended up with Amare' (No disrespect to STAT).. AND the worst part is we had to overpay, in order to seal the deal!!! I don't know but, that is a scary premise!!! PLEASE GOOD PEOPLE OF UK.. HELP ME SEE THE LIGHT! IS THERE A LIGHT??? OPTIMISM IS NEEDED! Why should I expect NYK to produce a winning team through free agency, going forward?

Off top, one stand out was Darren Collison, he signed I believe a 2yr deal worth 1.8 mil to the Clippers. Omri Casspi signed for the vets min. Earl Watson.. Just a few players that I can recall. I'm sure there are others!

I'll give you Collison but Watson and Casspi are nothing special. I would wait until the roster then make a comparison.

I think it used to be, and still is to some degree... NYC still has that appeal, but honestly in the internet age, players can be "large" in the smallest cities.. The problem with the Knicks, is the ownership and management. They have been so inept, the lawsuits, the scandals, the losing, the appeal that used to be so great of playing for the knicks I think have lost some shine... winning cures all tho....

IMO the knicks need that one player, or team, that people can attach to and love... which is why I always want to shy away from a certain type of player.. One day we will learn and when we do, when this franchise gets it right, with MSG, all the money we have, being in the largest market, the knicks will be gold.. until then, we are fools gold... but I hold out hope...

same. Collison played with CP3 before and I guess he liked that backup roll. Clips not a bad team to be on these days either. The other 2 guys both dont fit the Knicks and kinda played caca last 2 year?

it does and always has depend on the personality of the indiviudal player. Dwight Howard would probably have wet himself over thinking about coming here. Some guys want nothing more... I remember hearing about how Reggie Miller wanted to come here and instead the Knicks reupped H20

Don't even compare the talent/football ability - look at how different Mark Sanchez and Eli Manning are. They both approach the spotlight somewhat the same as both strike me as quiet guys. But when the spotlight shines on both they could not be any more different and both have been chewed up and spit out by the media, fans, etc.

Frustrating watching guys go for min deals that could help. I dont know why we didnt target Collision. I would of even signed Morrow. A career .425 3 point shooter to sit at the back of the bench. Why arent the Knicks targeting at least 1 other player who can stay in front of a PG.

Perhaps they did target Collison but he already wanted LAC?

Morrow... for what reason? Shump, JR, THJR. Does he stay in front of a PG? Outside of Collison, you haven't listed anyone that the Knicks should have gone after that also fits the team.

there is an appeal to living in nyc but there is little appeal to work for a shabbily-run company and an owner as vile as dolan is. if men of good character recognize this and opt to play elsewhere then really they can't be blamed.

i am pretty sure the mystique of playing at msg gets a wee bit old when a team chronically underachieves at best or just plain stinks at worst.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Hasn't stopped free agents signing for the NBA's worst owner, Donald Sterling.

btw the one year he did well guess who the clips knocked off in the first round in 2005-2006?

Same reason that they wanted Raja Bell, I agree that it is kinda redundant at this point.. IMO, but reports are they still are looking for two way wing players. I disagree that Morrow wouldn't fit or satisfy a team need though, he's a shooter.. Knicks need a sniper.

Collison went home to LA. Natural appeal.

When has Knicks been sexy to play for where players take a pay cut to come?

When has Checetts, Grunfeld, Layden, Isiah, Donnie or Grunny had players come becaue of NYC? When has a plyaer really ever said what a great organization the knicks are?

Vin Baker?

Stat came for the money and the bright lights. Melo wanted in but not sure either had to be "sold".

Felton wanted to be here but was it for the "Sex" or a good opportunity to play?

Players care about fit too. Why would Collison come here to possibly be a 3rd string PG when he is clearly the backup in LA? The only place off the bench we are wide open is at backup pf/c. These guys are going to teams they see a good opportunity to be in the rotation without much competition.

We never were an attractive destination that players would take less money for- its a myth! How many players have honestly taken less to play with us? Felton and Brewer. That's been it for decades. The myth was created by players and agents pretending they would sign with us for less to pressure the opposing team into paying more. Seriously list which players took a pay cut to pay for us during the last 20 years.

The last few years have just cemented the "It's a business" phrase in my head. The straw that broke the camels back was Melo wanting a trade to be here and that really killed the assets we had that could have put us over the top. Anyway, I'm glad he is here, but should he accept anything less from other players? Would have been nice to see Cope accept less to play here, but for some reason I think they didn't want him here or they would have made him an offer just like they didn't do with Lin.

I still think NY is a really special place to play, but it is a business. It would be nice to see one guy, just one guy, a star coming out of college, that says "I will only play for my dream team of NY." I can dream anyway...

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. Albert Einstein
