He does a good interview but as a player he always seems to think he's underpaid (when he's been way overpaid for years!), plus he thinks he's better than he is. When the ego doesn't diminish with the physical skills, it's a recipe for discontent.

Jackson was making waves with the Spurs which means that he doesn't know a good thing when he sees it.

No way, this guy is an idiot and has been an overrated player to begin with. Terrible shot selection.

You sure that's all that he was doing? I was under the impression he was also complaining about PT.

Well that wasn't mention in the interview by the announcers or Jackson.

Stephen Jackson waived by the Spurs
April 12, 2013|By Dan Loumena

Stephen Jackson, the volatile yet sometimes highly productive swingman, has been waived by the San Antonio Spurs, who apparently would rather go to the playoffs without him than listen to him complain about his minutes and role with the team.

San Antonio published a news release on their website Friday that the 13-year veteran had been put on waivers after appearing in 55 games this season, averaging 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 19.5 minutes per game.

“We're getting ready for the playoffs and putting our team together,” Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich said. “What we want to do and who we want to do it with and we thought making this decision with Jack was best for the group.

“Was a tough decision, because on a personal basis, I've known him a long time and I enjoy him very much. But you have to make decisions that are tough some times, and we thought this was best for our group.”

Jackson, 35, could be acquired by another team for the last week of the regular season, but he would not be eligible for the playoffs. NBA rules stipulate waived players have to be on a roster by March 1 to be eligible for the postseason

The deep and talented Spurs, who are still in the running for the top seeding in the Western Conference, reportedly cut ties with Jackson because the 6-foot-8 sharpshooter's complaints had a negative impact on the team's younger players.

Jackson has career averages of 15.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in 32.1 minutes a game, although the last couple of seasons he's primarily played in a reserve role.

He is in the final year of his contract and will become a free agent this off-season.

I stand corrected, well I guess they got what they wanted, when Green couldn't shoot on the road only at home. I bet they wish they had Jack and his ice in his veins knocking down 3's in Miami.

From the interview it sounds like he was determined to prove in practice that Danny Green and whoever else was playing over him didn't deserve the playing time.

That probably means he was going at them hard. I could see that not exactly being the most positive environment to bring along a player like Green.

While everyone who is coming down on his character being an issue has a valid point, at this point the Knicks should consider ANYONE who can play SF and has a pulse.

We have ZERO small forwards. Melo is a power forward on this team. Shump hates playing SF. JR is best as a big 2 vs an undersized forward.

Who is out there better than Stephen Jackson? Josh Childress?

We would be lucky as hell to have Stephen Jackson, warts and all. Remember what he did to Dirk in that GS-DALL series?

Sign him to a one year deal with a team option. Or a one year deal to let him show the league he can still play and isn't a cancer.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Green froze on the road and couldn't shoot, that's what they needed against the Heat. Jack would have come thru, he's been there and done that for the Spurs.

The only Jackson I am interested in would require the firing of Mike Woodson to join the Knicks, unfortunately I dont think he would care to join the Knicks as currently constructed.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I was thoroughly entertained by this interview....wish dude a lot of luck. Not sure if the Knicks should offer him a deal, but I think he would give his all. Dunno if he could take playing behind Shump, Jr, Melo, Barg...
