I wasn't terribly familiar with the Greenbay Packers ownership situation but became instantly intrigued with it. For those that are unfamiliar with the situation, supposedly no billionaire wanted to buy that franchise, which forced the city to take over and sell shares of the company to the average Joe's. Revenues are then split between the overhead associated with running the franchise and profits are reinvested into the city's infrastructure e.g. schools, roads, etc. How awesome would it be if we were able to do the same with the Knicks? Think of all the public good that stream of money could potentially serve! From what I understand, MSG might be on the move in 15 years to make room for the expansion of Penn Station. When/if that happens and Dolan starts begging for public loans, I hope we have the common sense to demand an ownership stake instead in either the new Garden of the Knicks themselves. What do you guys think?
