Do we have enough to resign either/both or are we looking elsewhere?

I thought KMart played well last year and was valuable to us - now we have even less senior citizens so he may be even more important to us?

I also thought Barron did as well with the limited time and fits the style we try to play - good outside shooter and can rebound

Would love to know their status or if we going in a different direction (eg Brand)

Both of these guys would be welcome, especially KMart. I'm really tired of Tyson's faux toughness act. We need someone to set the tone.

I think it's a toss up between NYK or BKNets... If choosing between the two, he'd likely have a bigger role with the Knicks.. Personally, I think he winds up in LAC or San Antonio. Both teams appear closer to being a championship contender, moreover playing time and having a vital role on the team would likely be significant in his decision.

*I've said all along that KMart is our most crucial signing.. he'd be a great loss given this team's lacking interior defense and rebounding. Hope he stays for the veterans minimum. Maybe we get a trade exception, if Copeland walks via s&t and use a portion of it to entice him to return?

Kenyon played very well. I think every team would happily sign him for the vet min and some will offer more. So he's gone unless he chooses to stay here for a discount.

I put up an Earl Barron thread several days back and got laughed at. LOL. K-Mart can walk -- he's just a spot player now and his lack of offensive is a real head-scratcher. Nowhere near the offensive threat he once was with Cincy, the Nets, etc.. Did a real nice job for us last year and I appreciate it but he's not a big-time player anymore...If they want to go for an older PF, I much prefer Brand over Martin. I think Brand can flat out offer this team more. And if they can't get Brand, I'd be fine signing a young, hungry PF on the cheap like a Jamelle hagins or Trevor Mbakwe....Barron to me is different -- he's a legit 7' CENTER that can rebound the ball LIKE A DEMON and shoot it very well from mid-range. Plays underrated defense too. Some will laugh but I feel Barron is so much more than a garbage player. I think this guy's still young enough (talking about a guy that's a good 4 years younger than K-Mart), big enough and surprisingly skilled enough to be an everyday rotation player in this league. K-Mart's too small to be an everyday backup C (if that's even their plan--I feel like it might be, at least one of their scenarios they're probably considering), is well past his prime with a current skill-set not even close to what he once had -- Barron, pound for pound, is the direct opposite...I hope they bring this guy back -- for the vet minimum, he's a no-brainer. Quality depth in the middle... Something ever happens to Chandler I don't want an undersized Band-Aid covering the wound. Barron could seamlessly step in and give us all the same things (maybe even better production). To me, this dude is so underrated.

I love Kmart and what he brings but I don't think Brand is even worth using the rest of our MLE on
Kmart on the other hand, I would not mind bringing him in with the rest of it for 3 years *3rd team option*, if he is willing to wait out on Copeland, and a few PG's

I would call up Jamalle Haggin's instantly if Kmart will not be back, I think he has the ability to contribute right away
He currently is on the Heat's summer league roster, I don't know if we are permitted to even give him a contract right now since he is with another team

I'm with you on Hagins, Ron. Just revised my post above to reflect that...For what they'd expect out of an over-the-hill K-Mart, Hagins could easily duplicate and probably eclipse. He'd be a nice young piece to move forward with. Adept rebounder/shot-blocker and I love his offensive game on the block -- advanced fluid post moves great footwork and great touch with either hand...Even shows a little bit of a spot up mid-range J...I'm with you 1000% on this guy -- he's one of the top players to go undrafted this year...Be aggressive here -- swoop in now before SL even begins and offer him a fully guaranteed 2-year, maybe even a 3-yr deal. Why the hell not..Nobody's offering him that right now -- if we did, we'd get him TODAY! For the 500k or whatever per season, it's a wise investment that will pay off...Show some guts and some vision with a few young guys, Glen! You have before -- do it again.

They did play together back in Jersey. Adding Kmart to the Nets would be bad news for the Knicks. That would give them some good depth in the frontcourt.

I think Martin ends up taking the minimum where ever he signs. I don't think he end up with the nets. They were able to keep Evans. He is probably a late July signing as I don't see him jumping to take a mini deal.

I don't think KMart signs with the Nyets to play behind Garnett. They don't like each other.

That could make him think twice about going to the Nets.

The only reason we got Martin cheap last year was because some teams were afraid to sign him to more than the vet minimum. Martin played extremely well so i doubt he will settle for the minimum again
