I wouldn't mind Pablo back -- just not as the primary backup PG to Felton. I feel he should be the 3rd PG behind Ray and someone else (someone younger and much more explosive, capable of pushing the ball, penetrating and playing uptemo)...I feel like they're approaching this like Ray/Prigioni and someone like Tony Taylor for next year will be enough and I just don't see thatc at all... Kinda feel like we shouldn't dip into the mini-ML for Priggy too -- then again, he's got only 1 year in the league and the vet minimum for a player with one year isn't even 800k I believe -- so in fairness, for all his experience, he probably deserves more than that. I like Pablo and want him to get paid -- I just don't wanna see us overbid. If that's the case, sayonara -- you were good Pabs, thank you, go get paid.
After Bledsoe, who's currently the best PG available that we might have a shot at? I like Darren Collison -- isn't he worth making a run at if we kept the full mini-MLE intact? Man, I think so...After that, I like Aaron Brooks a lot too, esp. if we can get him cheaper than Collison. Thinking about Brooks a lot the past couple of days, watching video, etc. -- this dude's right in his prime and he's VERY TALENTED. He fits the bill as far as a quick PG who can push it and penetrate goes. He can take anyone in this league off the dribble at will...Damn fine shooter too. Very good offensive player. Here's a guy that can take over and win games all by himself. Keeping it real -- Brooks might be better than Collison actually, better than Ray Felton even..And I'd definitely prefer Brooks over Prigioni to be honest if it came down to it...You can never have enough firepower in my view - never minded having a PG that can put the ball in the hole. To me, that's a great luxury and added benefit. The more people that can help Melo out in the scoring department, the better....Either Collison or Brooks are better buys than Prigioni imo.
At this point (and I don't even know if this is even realistic -- we just don't have any cap room to pay anybody!), I'd like to see us sign Aaron Brooks and Elton Brand. With JR Smith back in the mix, if we could add these 2 vets, then fill in the rest with smart/cheap signings, I think we're right there again for 50-55 wins.
