As I figured Smith was going to receive a long term deal. He sacrificed 2 yrs he wasn't going to give us a 3rd. If he was such a changed player this season why were fans anticipating he'd sign a 2yr deal? Wouldn't such a changed person, who won a major season award, who improved his play(depending who you ask) deserve and be paid principally all the money he was entitled too?

Nevertheless who should we trade Felton for to get his salary off the books in 2015. It's pretty important that we do so at this point as relatively soon, maybe not this off-season but before the season ends.

Any ideas?

Well Felton is the only PG on the roster, such as he is. Limited but serviceable and dude plays almost every game. Unless we can get a better PG back, I don't see us trading him for a short term contract dump. I don't really buy this 2015 cap clearing idea.

What if we could trade Felton for Ramon Sessions and a 2nd rounder?

Then sign Bynum and/or Telfair and call it day.

[

What if we could trade Felton for Miller?

Then sign Farmar and/or Watson

[

What if we could trade Felton for Barrea or Ridnour

Then sign Beno and/or Duhon

Is it that we're locked into Felton until we hear the organization is trying to move him, then sip the Kool-Aid? I'm trying to see if we have potential options to move his salary without taking any hits on the court and improve our financial situation going forward.

Felton is one of the few guys with trade value and at a very reasonable price.

We need to get a starting PG before we explore trading him. Get one and the Knicks will work on moving him.

If the plan is for 2015 while contenting the previous years, we have a lot of time left to trade him.

We got Smith at a very reasonable price and in a way its better to have him in this deal han a 2-yr one with a promise of a max contract later. If needed, Smith will be tradeable too.

We had an eternity to trade Novak too, especially if we were including picks in moving him. Name better shooters in this league than Novak? Novak helped space the floor. Novak makes $750,000 less than Felton in 2015.

I think Miller is the only starting PG on that list I would go for. Him and maybe Brooks as backup. Then we can talk abut moving Felton.

Not a spoof

Are you saying Felton when we signed him was/is our only option for the duration of his contract?

No I am saying he is getting paid back up money. So it doesn't matter if he is still on the books if they get a pg in FA in the future.

Not comparable. Novak had a pretty down season that exposed him as a good shooter that can disappear for long stretxhes and at his contract, he was rather overpaid. Not Smith's case at all.

Felton doesnt have much trade value because he doesnt want to play anywhere else. Remember he hated denver/portland. he played his worst there and he also gained about 30 lbs so i dont think too many team will give up anything

Lets just quit the nba, let all our contracts come off the books and not sign anyone ever again, then we can live in perpetual hope, fantasy and dreams rather than actually trying and building a team.

Sounds like a plan. I am scheduling my next rant for the 2014 nba draft. When the new deputy commissioner says, ' With the 59th pick of the 2014 nba draft the Toronto raptors select...' I am going apesh@t about the barge trade. Watch out.

I think you are going a little overboard mocking people who like draft picks or are hesistant about bargnani. True not all draft picks are sure thing in fact most arent. However its fair to say Bargnani isnt a sure thing either since he hasnt lived up to expectations and is injury prone. Hell i hope he proves us wrong but he still has to prove that he will be a useful player

Ha! Though I thought the nuggets own the 2014 pick, and the raptors the 2016? I will say one thing that's clear is although every strategy is risky, one thing you have to do us keep your picks and develop your talent- we have to stop giving away picks!

We traded for Felton after he had a down yr and a half...Come Again?

Bargs is HOPE...all the young talent we had.... bread by us, were Dream Destroyers. It depends if we acquire them or give them up what determines opinions.

It is okc's second round pick. It is projected to be the 59th pick. I disagree. I think others are going overboard.

All I'm saying Novak could have been moved anytime as long as we were willing to give up a pick or pick(s).
