THIS IS THE TYPE OF MOVE THAT CRIPPLED THIS FRANCHISE IN THE PAST.. Overpaying for Broken one trick pony's. I ain't gon sit here and kill this deal completely, but we got hosed yet again. I hope Bargnani can stay healthy.. and regains form on that outside shot. If you fans think he'll be a beast down low, or grab boards.. sorry for ya!

What this trade does mean, we get more cap flexibility down the road.. Melo shifts back to SF where he belongs. Giving us a more conventional lineup. Even more intriguing, is the prospect of cutting ties with Amare' with the stretch buyout provision.. just a thought.

We still need a point guard to bring this all together. Cause the defense will be suspect.. MORE OF A REASON TO KEEP SHUMPERT!

LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Novak has 3 years left. This frees up cap space summer 2015 as well.

This just tells me Melo is going nowhere and they are trying to build around him.

Bargnani is a 7 feet with skills. Plus he is only 27.

We needed size anyway.

What has Thomas Robinson done except play for 3 teams in 3 years?

Relax....just gotta smell the roses and keep the Kool-Aid flowing

I can ask the same question of Bargnani. Outside of his rookie year, he's been largely uninspiring to say the least! Does'nt rebound, Doesn't shoot well.. (Don't be fooled), Doesn't defend.. Is uber soft. I'd rather take my chances with Thomas Robinson.. Young Athletic, Rebounds and has upside.

Knicks want vets.

It's cool. Shumpert is probably next to go.

Knicks didn't have the cap space to absorb his contract. He wasn't an option for the Knicks.

But we have the cap space to absorb Bargani.. he has a 10% trade kicker as well. He'll make 12 mil. Robinson makes that over the next 4 yrs combined lol

Houston got the rights to two second round picks back. His salary is totally off the books. The Knicks are over the cap and can't do transactions like that.

I think Houston also got a couple of Euro Stash along with the two seconds.

Mannnnnnnnn Bump 2015 lolololol. This 2015 crap comes along.. and we won't be able to get squat! Y'all didnt learn from The Decision. Successfully run organizations build internally.. NYK has yet to try this approach. Build through the draft smh.. anyway, IT IS WHAT IT IS. I'll keep waiting until the product is finished for 2014 before I go Beef Stew

It was the knick pick from last year and Portland's euro stash from this year. Portland had a ton of picks this year in the second (3,4?) and didn't move any.

The thing is that those picks we gave up are meaningless right now. We have to make the most of the team we have invested in while Melo is in his prime. We added a guy that is also in his prime years, so this makes sense. Thomas Robinson has done NOTHING in this league. Bargs isn't a perfect player, but then how could we get him if he was? It almost goes without saying that we have to grab guys when their value is low, hoping that they can be coached back up to reaching their potential. That's how you do this thing when you have no cap space. Why are people acting like this is some surprise or that we did something wrong? We're over the cap, so this is our reality. I think it was good based on what we had to work with.

This is actually a good trade talent wise. He is the perfect stretch 4 compliment to Melo. Now we just need a rebounding 5 and a solid PG.

COUPLE of things that really stand out in this post.. you mentioned that those picks are meaning less right now.. at what point will they have value to you?; after another losing season? I disagree with the notion that a first rd pick is insignificant! Especially given the complexities of the CBA and our cap situation . The idea is to build on, strengthen your talent base.. picks help in that regard IMO. From this teams, perspective ... i get it, Bargani serves as a stretch 4. However. Most seem to overestimate his value. Robinson may be young and underachieving .. but the same can be said of Bargnani.. Id rather take the younger player that satisfies more team needs than just a injury plagued scorer

Yeah, but this trade will give us that. We'll have cap space and expirings heading into 2015.
