J.R. Smith and his family are meeting with Mike Woodson and the #Knicks front office tonight to discuss his future in New York.

Knicks roster now at 6--my bet is they want JR back but only for 2 years with a team option on yr 3. Thats the best I would do.

Same for me pretty much. Woodson really wants JR back though so he might cave to some demands from his dad.

No Rihanna clubbing pics?
No Vespa parking tickets?

[waits for this to turn into yet another Melo hate thread by page 4]

I'm actually hoping the Knicks don't match any offers for JR.

We can match his production with the players we'll potentially have on the team.

Well, either way the Knicks will probably lose him. I'd sign him for a 2 year, $10 million deal, nothing more. Nothing that eats into the summer of 2015. He'd also have to accept the bench role again, which he stated numerous times that he'd like to start.

If another team offers him $7 or $8 mill per, good riddance. The D league is full of swing men that can produce at JR's rate or even more efficiently.

I'd rather have someone more stable and consistent, than suffer another epic mental postseason meltdown again. Sure he had some moments here and there, really good regular season, etc.

When the chips were on the table, he let us down in the Boston and Indiana series. Reverted back to "Bad JR"

Addition by subtraction.

He was put in a position where he never belonged...He should never have been asked to be Melo's number 2 guy..He isn't that player...But the team needed it and he stepped up...U are expecting a 3 mil a year guy step into the shoes of a 15 mil a year player..When he didn't live up to it in the playoffs then u hold it against him???..

This is not a one off. JR has been doing this act since Zheijang, Denver, New Orleans, St Benedicts Prep, Lakewood, Steinart, Womb.

Thought he finally matured. We were all wrong.

I really don't look at what players do elsewhere...I care what they do when in a Knick uni...JR had a awesome year for us...He outperformed his contract by leaps and bounds, literally...He played poorly in the playoffs, but so did most of the team...

He's shooting 32 percent from the field and 22 percent from 3s in 2 postseasons with the Knicks. To me, and the rest of the universe, it's easily replaceable.
