![]() Looks like we just drafted a less athletic (but hopefully more focused) J.R. Smith. Guess we will have to wait and see how he develops.

![]() Why is T Jr. less athletic? He's 6-6+, strong, fast and able to finish above the rim in transition. Dude has a 37.5" vertical which isn't bad at his height. He has good agility and speed as his combine stats indicate. T Jr. was as quick as Victor Oladipo and Ben McClemore in the sprint. In fact here are direct comparison with a few more similar prospects:
T Jr. sprint = 3.25 Vert = 37.5 Agility = 10.68 Bench = 16 So T Jr. is not some non-athletic guy at all. He's right in there with the rest of his class save for a few freaks at the very top. We need Knicks fans to stop feeling the need to bash our own prospects without the facts to support such claims. |

![]() NBA Comparison: Wesley Person/Arron Afflalo
Strengths: Scorer with good size and athleticism for the 2-guard position ... Worked hard during offseason before junior year to improve upon and become a proficient 3 point shooter, knocking down 37% of his 3s on over 5 attempts per game ... Plays with good energy and intensity. A self starter, not a player that needs to be pushed to get the most out of his abilities ... An above average run jump athlete, excellent in transition. Finishes well on the break ... Professional approach ... Hard worker, competes hard ... Accepts his role within a team concept and plays unselfish ... Solid decision maker and passer at the 2 position, maintaining a positive a/to ratio throughout his college career ... Scoring numbers did not increase substantially, but his efficiency did ... Pro jumper. Shows great form on his shot. Gets a lot of lift and shoots the ball from a high release point ... Stays active and moves well off the ball. Does a good job of freeing himself and shooting off of screens ... Shows pick and roll ability as ball handler ... Benefits from being the son of a former pro, having grown up around the game shows excellent maturity and perspective of what it takes to be a pro which should help with the transition to the next level ... Weaknesses: Doesn't have great foot speed or a quick first step which limits his ISO and driving ability ... Legitimate concerns about his ability to create his own shot ... Body lacks great strength. Appears a little frail, which allows him to be knocked off balance more easily ... Solid but not outstanding defender due to below average lateral speed ... Ankles appear tight ... There are some concerns about his legs and how they will hold up over time ... Lack of foot speed allows opponents to crowd him and limits his spot up efficiency ... Questions about whether he's a stong enough athlete to eventually become an NBA starter or if his ceiling is as a rotation guy ... Mid range game could use some improvement ... Did not have a very good tourney performance as his shot abandoned him to some degree and he failed to have a real break out performance ... Outlook: Lacks the physical strength of Arron Afflalo but is similar in his nose for scoring and outside shooting ability as well as his projection as a bubble first rounder that could be undervalued by NBA teams due to perceived athletic shortcomings ... Considered a borderline first rounder by NBA scouts ... Notes: Son of former Golden State Warrior great, point guard Tim Hardaway Sr. ... Showcased his explosiveness on a big stage with his highlight reel dunk on Gorgui Dieng in the national title game ... I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18

![]() He cant handle the ball well which is why he picks up his dribble for a jumper.
I wont hold my breath for him to learn how to handle the ball better. Still waiting for Wilson Chandler's handle to develop. Some people seem to take good handle for granted. JR Smith effortlessly gets to where he wants on the floor because he can actually dribble without turning over the ball. NY Knicks - Retirement home for players and GMs

![]() I don't know man -- this feels like a very safe pick. Maybe too safe at 24. WTF - take more of a chance and shoot for the stars a little more, no? There are wings out there in the FA we could get really cheap that are just as good as this guy. There's no doubt in my mind - I could rattle off 10 guys off the top of my head that are just as talented - maybe better overall, better shooters, etc...My rule of thumb -- if I can get something very similar in FA, esp. if I didn't have to splurge, I'd then use my pick on something else... I don't even feel Hardaway was the best wing in this draft -- I think I'd rather have Crabbe, Bullock (who went right after us at 25) or Glen Rice Jr -- I had Hardaway 4th out of these 4 guys all along... Why not go for a PG like Canaan or Wolters, why not take a shot at Muscala's potential? It's a shake you head pick a little bit, no? We played this way too safe. Hope I'm wrong and he winds up having a much bigger impact than I expect.

![]() From that clip it looks like Hardaway can finish strong around the rim, and in heavy traffic. Didn't have enough of that last season because half the guards in our rotation couldn't make a layup.
With our aging roster its better to draft someone who isn't a long term project and can help the team next season. Looks at first glance like Hardaway fits the bill. |

Thats why the Spurs are successful....they don't draft the best athlete....They draft the best player that fits their system. THJ fits our current system. Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland.
The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

![]() Personally i dotn have a problem with Hardaway jr. Most nba scouts like the pick and that never happens when the knicks make their picks. At 24 you arent gonna get a gamechanger unless its a strong and deep draft and 2013 was pretty weak

Woodson will have him collecting splinters anyway. Then posters will call for Hardaway to be unchained so he can "save us". NY Knicks - Retirement home for players and GMs
