Eric Gordon 'Very Available' In Trade Talks
Jun 26, 2013 12:49 PM EDT

The New Orleans Pelicans are making Eric Gordon "very available" in trade talks, according to a source that spoke with RealGM.

Gordon signed a four-year, $58 million deal with the Phoenix Suns last offseason that was matched by the Pelicans. Gordon badly wanted to play for the Suns and was publicly disappointed by the Pelicans' decision to match.

Gordon played in just 42 games last season due to a continued string of injuries.

Amare for Gordon and Jason Smith...

Gordon is the secondary scorer we can use (if healthy), is only 24 and Jason Smith is Scott Pollard.

Felton
Gordon
Shumpert
Anthony
Chandler

JR, Shawne Williams, Backup PG (Billups would be perfect), Draft Pick #24.

Only issue is how getting Gordon would affect Shumpert.

That would be awesome but New Orleans would never do it. Gordon could have a Steph Curry type year where he finally avoids injury and explodes. If NOLA trades him they'll get much better than our damaged goods.

I wish we were in a better position to take a risk. I'd be willing to take him in a sacrificial capacity as long as he passed every physical stress test known to man but BRIGGS reply was True Story....

This is the type of snowball that Layden and Thomas was famous for. Taking back longer bad contracts in some cases for slightly better players but digging the hole deeper and deeper

Correct. its amazing how layden and thomas necer learned from their mistakes and instead of trying to clear space they just added ove rthe hill players with abd contracts

I would say oftentimes, the players weren't even necessarily better. Better scorers maybe or better in one particular facet, but overall better players is questionable, depending on the trade.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Whoa now...hold on here. Amare is 29 Gordon 24. Amare makes 20 mil Gordon makes 13. They both have knee problems. If Carmelo opts out in 2014 we have nothing. He's gone, Amare, Tyson all gone. At least in Gordon we have a complimentary second scorer for Melo and a shot of youth. I like Amare. He was the first one here. But he is the guy stuff keeps happening to. He lost his position. He lost his team.

For my money I will bet on the 24 yr old Gordon to recover more than the 29 year old Amare.

I think you just described why New Orleans would never do the deal.
