I'd use our full mini MLE money on him before using it on JR or anyone else.
Losing him would be a big loss. I guess if you have close to $60 mil tied up in Melo-Amare-Chandler, you can't expect to keep the little gems you find.

Cope is as good as gone. Would love to keep him but we can only offer but so much while the Pelicans are under the cap. Plus, they can offer him more consistent playing time....

I like Copeland but Im not crazy about adding even more money into 2015-16. We already have Novaks crappy contract stuck on are books and Felton. We are going to end up killing are flexibility in 2015-16. Knowing the Knicks they will end up signing him then giving away 2017 1st round pick so someone will take Novak and Copeland off are hands

You can't worry about adding guys making like $4 or 5 mil. Once the big 3 come off the books, we'll have loads of cap money even if we keep Copeland and Novak.
Hoopshype makes it sound like Cope is gone and the Knicks are looking at Shawne Williams and Kostas Papanikolaou as possible replacements. Bummer.

They are going to keep Jr which will be 6 more plus Copeland by the time 2015/16 comes we will have no cap room. That is the light at the end of the tunnel for me.Im going to be pissed if we screw that up before we even have it. We have to do it right this time

paying Jr has nothing to do with paying Cope or anyone else.

We have JR's Early Bird rights so we don't have to use the MLE on him anyway.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I knew he was done. What the Knicks have to do in the future is add multiple years to players contracts--they dont have to be guaranteed--but its bad business to sign a young player and not add atleast a second year to the contract.

Shawne Williams 2.0

Peace Copeland. Let's see how good he looks on a losing team.

People need to realize the Knicks are an above average team. We can get replacement role players.

The player has to agree as well.

You'd think a 29 year old who never even made it to the NBA would agree to almost anything though.

That's exactly what the Rockets did with Beverly. Having the ability to keep Cope around for 3 years at less than $1 mil per would have been perfect

yeah but, the most we can offer him is like 5and a half mil. Not sure if anyone will offer more but, stupider things have happened.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

yea, gotta let him walk.. he is a nice little player, but honestly, he is replaceable... time to look forward and prepare properly and sometimes you will lose players like this.. but you gotta think long term...

good post bro...

well bonn, williams had a nice run with the knicks and this greek guy may be worth a look.. on the cheap... copeland was nice, but nothing to lose sleep over.. gotta think long term, I would look to replace copeland with a younger guy who actually defends....

Cope is from Jersey so maybe that will play a roll in him returning, unless NO gets silly with the money...If we are serious about getting to the next level, we need to add another scorer ahead of JR...Cope will be a loss but not a big loss...We have bigger fish to fry...
