What kind of buzz is Tony Mitchell getting with his freakish athletic ability?

Chad Ford (1:55 PM)

Watch the Knicks at 24. Think they like him a lot.

-----------------------

I am really warming up to him as a better rebounding version of Wilson Chandler. Could be a nice 3/4 combo next to Melo for the future. I'm sure my mind will change again, but i like him and Muscala the best. Both have good upside and can help us right away with their rebounding. No reason Mitchell can't develop in a similar way to Kawhi Leonard as that type of role player.

can dude shoot?
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

what scares me about him is that he's a tweener. Not saying he couldn't become a good SF or a good PF, but its seems like every tweener forward ends up being a disappointment

Freshmen Mitchell, yes. Sophomore Mitchell, no!

I would consider him an average shooter right now. But if he improved from his freshman year he would be top 10 this year and not even in our range. If you are picking at 24 like us, you need to judge him on his freshman year and assume that he was in a bad situation this season. I don't consider him a bad shooter by any means though. We just need a guy who can spot up and i think he can work on that and become above average like Leonard did.

Wilson Chandler can handle the ball This guy has no ballhandling skills. Again I would say poor mans Kenyon Martin but his legs are young.

He seems to have more of a perimeter game than KMart ever did. He can knock down open shots.

Well Mitchell did shoot 44% from three as a freshman and probably doesn't have the mechanical issues Kenyon does with his shot.

Considering the fact that he is a better shooter i would think that makes him a steal at #24.

If he could actually step in and defend like Martin (which shouldn't be expected for a rookie) it would easily be a great pick up.

IMO we need to give this guy a guarantee at #24. The most common and easiest(not saying its easy) attribute that a player can improve upon Is shooting. Long athletic defenders are the way to go in the draft.

He has the highest potential for anyone at #24 and has to many things that he could potentially bring to the table like rebounding, shot blocking, length, freak athletics, shooting, defending multiple positions.

Him and Shump could be a terror defensively on the wing. Even if he doesn't pan out as an offensive player he could always find a role with rebounding, defense and highlight reel dunks and blocks.

Warming up to the idea of this guy.

Like guys mentioned, you can never have too many K-Mart type players, that do the dirty work and have high motors.

That was just a guess on their part. He has worked out for many teams and it could be from any of them.

Yeah and they were clear about that. They did say that the rumor came out right after his workout with the Knicks.

It could be true but what I meant was it is nothing more than an assumption on their part based on the timing. No real rumor, just speculation. But very possible nonetheless.

I agree with you. I am hoping for Muscala or a point.

Is that a bad thing we are picking #24
