Is this guy worth the entire MLE? He's played very well on Dallas, maybe he just fits into their system. I love his game though, very versatile and athletic. He's a FA this summer I believe.

If the Knicks can't get Swift or another FA, I'd look at Daniels. Maybe not the entire MLE, but enough to outbid Cuban. I think he's a very good young player, and he'd be a nice player to replace Allan Houston down the road.

Also, the fact that Dallas found this guy after he didn't even get drafted gives me hope that IThomas will be able to find somebody with value at their pick in the second round who can contribute next year.

Don't you think we'd need some help inside first ?
Though this guy's good, no doubt about it.

We have to wait until the Mavs max him out, then in 12 years his game starts to slip, then he is Knick material!

Marquis is legit. So is Josh Howard. Dallas still has Finley signed forever.....one of those youngins have to go.

Marquis could be under Isiah's radar. Marbury and Marquis....M&M...I can see that on the cover of SLAM one day, lol.

actaully its Finley that will be gone, mark my word.

No to Daniels.. this is part of the reason Isiah is here, to find our own guy like Daniels in the 2nd round or via FA. He's got a great eye for talent, let him use it. No need to overpay for this guy.

Also, I'm not signing any wing player(s) until I know Houston's status and or I can move Shandon. Right now we have Frank, MArbury, Shandon, Penny, DJ, Moochie and Houston... while some *can* play the 3 all are basicly guards.

We just have to be patient and let some of Layden's mistakes vanish.

I agree with the second part pretty much but it's that first paragraph. You said that the Knicks should find their own guys in the draft or in FA...but then you said Knicks shouldn't sign Marquis....you might need another coffee bro, lol.

I get what you mean though. Though getting all this yuoth in the back courts seems all to the good the Knicks still have alot of guys that play the back court on the roster.

I'm thinking the Knicks could swap Frank for a guy like Marquis.

Like you said man...we just have to trust Isiah cuz eh obviously knows what he's doing.

I meant exactly what I said. If we draft Ricky Paulding or sign an undrafted FA like Daniels for the min. thats great, nothing wrong with adding another prospect, even if he's a bit stuck behind a glut. But adding a $4-$5 mill a year FA with 6 guys already on the depth chart with guareneed money just makes no sense.

Fishmike,

Good point, we need to mine our own talented gems, not overpay on the sure things. Good for Dallas getting those two, and that is what Demarr is all about here.

I think H20 will be fine next year. Many players have had a season that just does not go right. He rushed back too soon a few times. The dude plays hurt, and will really do well once back in the flow.

I would like to see Kurt Thomas traded while he has value. I don't want any E-Rob unless chitown takes penny off our hands. I wonder what the potential is for Chandler with the bulls. I know he is always hurt, but can we get him, and have him come off the bench, limit his minutes and rebuild him proper. Make an investment in him with time and conditining so long as his back problems are not chronic. He is not even 22 yrs old.

Its a risk, but this is how gems are found, not go the easy route and have good information.

Thsi has been a forgotten thread but this kid could be the next good shooting guard.

I mean he is putting up McGrady, Old Penny, Old Grant Hill type numbers....6 rebs and 5 assists with along with the game he's displayed.

I had to get this post back into rotation.

I think the Knicks shoudl throw the entire mid-level at this Kidd and sell him on the opportunity to shine in the greatrest city in the world. Marbury would be that much effective if Marquis was a Knick....

That takes care of the shooting guard for the next 10 years.

Daniels is very good and is worth more than the MLE, and will be paid by some team under the cap.

Yikes....gotta disagree with you there about the salary he will command. IMO the max he can get is the Mid level....and will be lucky to get that. He's got talent and potential, but his 8 points a game does not equal more than the mid level.

A team like Denver or Atlanta could offer something like that to him.....you don't look at the 8pts per year. He's only been playing like this since the begining of March. Well he's been really consistantly well since the begining of April. It says something if Dallas makes you a starter at the end of the season. Dallas is not the Knicks......Dallas is already a premier team in this league without Daniels. That is so big.

Though he hasn't played long enough to warrent a max deal, the way he's been playing along with the fact he's doing it on Dallas makes it possible.

Knicks do have the respect of a Isiah Thomas and Leny Wilkins, along with the opportunity of playing along side of one of the best point guards in the league on our side for once. Marquis Daniels could look at the Knicks as a major way to make dough and become a known player around the world with all the media out here.

Geez....just imagine

Check out this irony righ here....

You guys are gonna flip out when you see this.....I didn't make it up either. This must have been during pre-draft camps or something like that.http://www.nba.com/media/knicks/DanielsHeadshot.jpg

I had to come back and edit this with the original article the picture was in.http://www.nba.com/knicks/news/workoutq_030619.html

Reading this article tells me Scott Layden really was a damn idiot. Just read it fellas it's crazy. Tell me if Isiah was GM what would he have done after working these guys out.
