Why...because when healthy, he is one of the top 2 way players in the game. We sorely need an inside presence.

2 questions left to be answered....

will we be able to do a sign and trade after the new cap and tax apron is known

do we have anything they would want in return?

Also, if they don't sign Josh Smith, they will have cap room to absorb salary which will help us with the tax apron.....

I think The biggest question that will have to be answered first is if they can do better on the FA market with their cap room while letting Bynum walk for nothing. I don't think so, but having gone through a season with an injured Bynum also makes any deal centered around Stat risky for them....Definitely a long shot, but I have my fingers crossed that they would do a deal with us AND Bynum can stay healthy. He is the best and most affordable option out there for a team w/o cap room and he is still only 26 y.o.

So would I but it isnt feasible for the Knicks to obtain him unless they dumped salary. No 1 is taking Amare so basically the Knicks would have to give away Carmelo and Chandler to teams under the cap. Which I wouldnt have a problem doing if we had are own lottery picks and received picks but we dont

I would if he didn't get an Eddy Curry like deal. I bring up Curry because while Bynum is the best center in the league when healthy IMO, he also has the potential of being a 7 foot albatross. Don't want to go through that again.

1 year for the MLE would be ideal and give him a chance to reestablish himself in the league on a contender for a payday the following season...but that just doesn't happen in the real world

I agree with you. When I see Bynum I think Eddie Curry.

What do you think Bynum's market value is right now?

Should we just roll the dice on Greg Oden and see if he can stay healthy?

Oden would be good, but Bynum has playoff experience and has played in a big market town

Yeah, if I had to choose i'd go for Bynum over Oden. Both of them are likely to get injured here knowing the Knicks' luck though.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Yeah some team with cap room will probably go 10-12 million for 1 year

incentive based contracts in the NBA? Kind of takes the risk out for a team.

Really, Lakes put little to risk in Dwight. If Bynum was like this, maybe they let him walk if no trade. If Dwight Walks, they really don't lose "what they never had". Philly risked Iggy but that contract was a beast anyway and he is not a franchise player. Over all Orlando wins if Dwight walks from Lakes. They got some good assets in return.

Should be interesting what Dwight does.

Bynum? He is the love child of Eddy and Metta World! He got paid 16mil to heal. Great work if you can get it!

Bynum should go where he can excell for a small amount and then get paid next year. Bottom line is risk management.

Hope he saves his money.

Question is how is bynum's health and prognosis? Oden is likely a two year project but he will get paid as will bynum. Good bigs are not easy to find.

don't discard FluTyson so fast.

I think you have to keep Chandler in either scenario. Both players are injury prone and would need to earn a starting role. Would be nice to have depth at the 5 for a change and Chandler would have to play his a** off to keep his starting job. Nothing wrong with a little motivation and I think Chandler could rise to the challenge.

I bet Sixer fans the world over are dying for you to do just that.

I would take another chance on Jerome James first.
