What team who missed the playoffs this year does he take over the top to a Conference Finals or Finals?

You cant take this question seriously by default because melo wont be traded
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Hypothetical or say he opts out because we don't get him enough help. There was a thread entitled...."What Should We Do With Melo" and posters took it relatively seriously although wouldn't what you just stated have applied to that thread too?

I chose non-playoff teams because they made the playoffs without him and some teams made Conference Finals without him. I want to eliminate those teams.

What do you think we'd be getting back in the melo trade if management wanted to blow it up? PICKS! Anyway,trading melo is not a solution unless Grunwald has another star lined up ripe for the picking. Our owner is not clever enough to build a successful, cohesive team using advanced metrics and smart draft choices, we cannot start from the bottom. Everyone loves the lottery strategy until they look back and realize that the team has stunk for the past 5 years and is not any closer to a championship than it was before. The lottery cycle is brutal, waiting years for a short glimpse of greatness requires patience and low standards, two things that come in short supply in NYC. I wouldn't mind a Melo trade so long as it is not to completely blow up the team, but rather make it stronger through better-fitting pieces.

So are posters implying a player who led the league in scoring and led a toiling Knicks team going nowhere 10yrs prior to acquiring him, which resulted in 54 win season and a semifinals appearance has no trade value?


I wasn't asking the question from the perspective of what it does to us...let's assume we'll be fine. I wanted to know which non playoff team does he get close to or take to the promise land.

I agree but at the same time I dont think there's any player besides Lebron that would have that strong of an impact on any of these lottery teams. Especially if you take into consideration the assets they'd have to give up to acquire them...

Cleveland if they keep Irving can then be second round team - just like us.

I think he could get Cleveland, Portland, and Minnesota a long ways providing their star players are healthy. I also think Philly would join elite status.

He would destroy Portland with his one dimensional ball hogging. And he would not augment Rubio-Love chemistry in Minny either. I haven't followed Philly at all recently.
